Conversations with Alexis Vinique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Vinique.

Hi Alexis, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started in entrepreneurship because I knew I did not want to work for someone for the rest of my life. I had been in the military and worked for corporate and clearly I did not like to be told what to do. So I started a few of the businesses before I became a real estate agent in North Carolina General contractor

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing is ever a smooth road. As a black woman that is smart and stands up for herself there are always going to be some adversity, trying to minimize my existence, but I believe that the struggle starts in the mind and if you have a clear mind and clear vision on what it is, you are trying to achieve the adversity isn’t so hard to deal with.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have a few businesses. I have an art business.(Kiss the ARTist) , a nonprofit (Be Your Own Cup Of Tea) along with a few other businesses. I am a north and South Carolina real estate agent as well as a licensed general contractor. I am most proud of being able to help someone or educate someone on something that they may not know as far as purchasing a home. A lot of people in our community have been misguided and they always assume that it’s a hard task, but I like to break it down easy for them so that they can teach their friend or coworker so that they aren’t afraid to take that leap to home ownership. I am also proud of my nonprofit which promotes individuality and being OK and comfortable with being who you are unapologetically. My first event led some people to even starting their own business and to step more in their power of being themselves, and although it was a struggle to put together, I was happy and very proud of the feedback and the impact that that event made on other people.

I believe what set me apart is that I am unapologetically myself, and they are so many different dynamics of me that I don’t neglect and express them as well.. I’m very professional but also very laid-back but also strictly about my business, but I am a creative also a nurturing mother also an army veteran living in the big city of Charlotte, but I’m from Plymouth North Carolina (252)and was raised by my great grandmother. And much more…. So I have a lot of different dynamics and experience throughout my life that I never meet a stranger or someone that doesn’t have some part of them that I cannot relate to.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I would rather take the risk then to live and regret for not taking the risk. I never want to live my life and think back “what if?” I have taken a lot of risk and a lot of risk and business where I have lost thousands of dollars…. However, they taught me some lessons. Money can be replaced, but Time is our greatest currency./asset…. We don’t know how long we will be here so why not be in the present because we will never get this moment back and take the risk. So if you are asking me for advice and want to know should you take the risk? TAKE THE RISK lol
