Conversations with Anna Jordan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Jordan.

Hi Anna, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I started AnnaBanana in 2018 as a simple Instagram page where I posted my handmade jewelry.

Throughout high school, I honed my passion for creating clothing and jewelry. I was inspired to start selling officially when applying to college for business school.

Since then, I have registered as an LLC and continuously changed my branding, products, and materials until AnnaBanana became what it is today. I now use polymer clay to create my pieces, along with high-quality metal accents and findings.

Working with clay has allowed me to be more creative than any previous materials and I am truly passionate about the brand I have built.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not. I started my jewelry business freshman year of college, so throw in a whole lot of new adjustments and time spent socializing, and I did not end up putting in the effort I could have.

I struggled with balancing and growing AnnaBanana along with school, and I also struggled with the kinds of products I was creating. I was unsatisfied with how my brand was progressing. In my junior year, I discovered polymer clay. However, I shared a room in my sorority house with two roommates and did not have access to an oven.

That project had to be postponed. Finally, last summer, I had the opportunity to start experimenting with clay jewelry. This past year I perfected the art and spent countless hours building up my brand, and social media, and have been able to stay consistent with it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I design jewelry out of polymer clay.

Clay is an amazing material because the jewelry turns out so lightweight and comfortable. I love it because I am able to mix each color and design every effect or pattern completely from scratch.

I am extremely proud of the time I have put into learning and practicing. Polymer clay was not as easy as I thought going into it, but I am happy to say my jewelry now looks nothing like when I started.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
I am always open to collaborating, be that giveaways, joint content, or something else! The biggest way to support me (and other makers) is by liking, commenting, and sharing posts on social media!

Of course, a purchase always makes my day – but these are easy ways to help me expand my reach and customer base!
