Today we’d like to introduce you to Bianca Jade.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started singing when I was 9 years old, just singing along to the radio and my Aretha Franklin CD in my basement. I’ve always loved singing, writing songs, and just being around music in general. After practicing on my own at home, I performed for the first time in front of a live audience at my middle school when I was 11 years old. I sang “Fallin'” by Alicia Keys and won the talent show. That performance gave me a lot of recognition in school from my peers and teachers. People knew that I could actually sing.
When I was 14, my dad gave me a keyboard piano to learn how to play at home. I taught myself to play piano by ear by practicing cover songs of my favorite artists. Eventually, I started writing my own songs at the piano and performed my songs for my friends, family, and neighbors. A couple of years later, my family and I moved back to Miami, FL (where I’m from originally) and I got accepted into a performing arts school where I studied choral music and jazz.
This was a big turning point for me as a musician. I was finally able to embrace my love for music and grow in an environment that nurtured my gifts. I believe that some key things that have brought me to where I am now are perseverance, faith, and trust in the process.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t think there’s anything smooth about having a career in music. There are going to be people who try to take advantage of your kindness or take advantage of the fact that you’re a new artist. You’re gonna get rejected a lot and be told “no” more often than “yes.”
The hardest thing I’ve had to overcome I think is my own self-doubt and just being overly critical of myself. Also just trust my own ideas and opinions of my work.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a recording artist, singer, songwriter. I specialize in Pop/R&B/Soul music.
Currently, I have 2 EPs out, “B-Light” (2017) and “Jade Vol. 1” (2019). I also have a bunch of singles and music videos that I’ve released on Youtube including my latest music video for my song “Everything I’ve Got.” I’m really proud of this song specifically because I poured my heart out and got pretty vulnerable about my experience as an independent artist.
My goal was to motivate other artists as well as myself, to keep the faith and to trust in the process. I think what sets me apart from others is that I focus on bringing light and empowerment to people through my music. I write songs that give you a little motivation and inspiration.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is self-expression and helping people to heal through my music and creations. Having a creative outlet is a very powerful way to give and receive. I have a unique way to relate to others through music and inspire them. At the same time, I’m receiving the satisfaction of being able to express myself and knowing that my music is helping others.
