Conversations with Brittany Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Jones.

Hi Brittany, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
16 years ago as a Sophomore at WSSU, I was shopping with my mom at a local craft store, and God literally opened my eyes to focus on a very expensive wreath.

This wreath barely had any florals, it mostly looked as if someone tied an oversized bow on it, and then slapped a ridiculous price tag on it. It didn’t have any “sparkle” to it and it was definitely something that left A LOT to be desired.

A few customers walked by it with minimal interest, but as soon as they saw the price they became disinterested because of the lack of quality, passion, and care, that the wreath lacked.

It was in that moment that God began to show me how I was gonna use the creative gifts He’s blessed me with to be a blessing to others. And that was the first day I knew that my life was going to change forever.

I started making wreaths and floral arrangements for my family, and soon after I was decorating banks, churches, wedding venues, local schools, a mall, and a restaurant. And since then, Britt’s Sparkling Creations offers a variety of creative, unique services that are affordable yet specialized with loving care. I now customize/design apparel, paint party kits, beaded gifts, wreath making and Cricut workshops. And I recently published my first book titled, “Intimate Conversations & Private Revelations: Vol. 1”; which is a book of poetic expressions.

I LOVE being a business owner and creating products that adds a little “sparkle” for my clients. It’s a lot of hard work, time, dedication, and commitment, BUT it’s all worth it when seeing the joy on my clients faces when they receive their orders!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being in business is truly not for the weak nor faint of heart. You have to develop a strong mindset, remember your “why”, and establish/stand on a firm foundation. There’ll be times when you’re soaring high, and also times when you crash. But you have to get up, dust yourself off, and keep going.

Over the years I’ve had to establish and modify business practices, redevelop effective marketing strategies, network with other small businesses within similar industries, brainstorm action steps towards reaching quarterly goals, and maintain quality customer service/relationships.

I’ve even encountered customers who question why I offer affordable services, as well as customers who were cruel , rude, and disrespectful because they didn’t want to pay for services. And at first I was disappointed, but I had to learn that these experiences were not meant to defeat my business nor my spirit. Those experiences were meant to build me stronger and to make me reflect on the improvements that I can make in the future. The hard paths on my business journey was necessary for growth, development, and future success.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
