Conversations with Corinna Dunn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Corinna Dunn.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey started with a simple but powerful realization: healing is possible, and we don’t talk about it enough.

Like a lot of people, I’ve navigated seasons of growth, setbacks, reinvention, and learning how to prioritize my mental and physical health in a real way — not just the curated version. What began as personal work evolved into public conversations. I launched The Melanin Wellness Podcast as a space for honest dialogue around healing, wellness, relationships, and growth, especially for women who are used to being strong for everyone else.

As the show grew, so did the community. We’ve since ranked in the top 25% of podcasts globally, which still feels surreal, but what matters most to me is the impact — the messages from listeners who feel seen, validated, and inspired to choose themselves.

Alongside the podcast, I’ve continued building my work in fitness and wellness, helping women reconnect with their bodies in a sustainable, empowering way. Everything I do — from modeling to coaching to hosting — centers around the same mission: reminding people that growth is allowed, healing is possible, and you don’t have to shrink to evolve.

I’m still building, still learning, and still expanding — just with a lot more clarity and intention than when I started.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Honestly? It hasn’t been a completely smooth road — and I don’t think it’s supposed to be. There have been moments where I had to rebuild confidence, figure out how to manage my energy, and learn how to say no without feeling guilty. There were also times when juggling the podcast, fitness work, and everything in between made me question if I was spreading myself too thin.

But those challenges became my greatest teachers. They taught me to trust my instincts, lean into my own voice, and be okay with not having everything figured out. I’ve learned that growth isn’t linear, and sometimes the “struggle” is just the plot twist that leads you to the next level.

The key has been staying consistent, surrounding myself with the right people, and remembering why I started in the first place. And honestly? Looking back, I wouldn’t trade the hard moments — they make the wins feel that much sweeter.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I wear a few hats, but everything I do centers around helping people heal, grow, and show up as their full selves. I’m the host of The Melanin Wellness Podcast, where I create space for honest conversations around healing, wellness, relationships, and personal growth — especially for Black women navigating high expectations while trying to prioritize themselves. The show has grown to a top 25% globally ranked podcast, which is exciting, but for me the real reward is hearing from listeners who feel seen and inspired to make changes in their own lives.

Alongside the podcast, I run FitFabCori, where I focus on sustainable, body-positive fitness and wellness coaching. I specialize in helping people build strength, mobility, and confidence — all in ways that are realistic for real life, not extreme or performative. I’m also a model and creative, so I blend storytelling, wellness, and personal branding across everything I do.

What I’m most proud of is the community I’ve built and the trust people place in me. I think what sets me apart is my approach: I combine authenticity with expertise, creating spaces that are both real and aspirational. People know they can count on me for honest insight, guidance, and a little humor along the way — because growth and wellness shouldn’t feel stiff or intimidating.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I see risk as the only way to grow. One of the biggest risks I took was fully investing in my podcast and wellness work, leaving behind more traditional paths with no guarantee of success. It was scary, but I knew the message I wanted to share mattered and that stepping in fully was the only way to make an impact.

I’ve also taken the risk of being fully transparent about personal growth, healing, and mental health — topics that aren’t always easy to talk about publicly. Being vulnerable could’ve backfired, but it’s exactly what’s allowed me to connect deeply with my community.

For me, the risks that matter most are the ones that push you to be authentic, trust yourself, and lean into discomfort. Those are the moments that create real growth — both for me and for the people I reach.
