Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaquaya Harvey.
Hi Jaquaya, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my journey in healthcare as a Registered Nurse, where I quickly realized caring for people was more than just a job for me, it was personal. Being in different care settings opened my eyes to what was missing. I saw how easy it was for people to feel overlooked in larger facilities, and I knew I wanted to create something different.
That’s what led me to build Divine Destination Homes. I wanted to create a space that truly feels like home, where residents are not just cared for, but genuinely known, respected, and loved. A place where families feel peace and trust, knowing their loved one is in good hands.
Stepping into business ownership has stretched me in ways I didn’t expect. It required faith, resilience, and a willingness to bet on myself even when things felt uncertain. But every challenge has pushed me to grow into the leader I am today.
Now I stand not only as a nurse, but as a CEO with a clear vision. I am building something meaningful, something rooted in compassion, excellence, and purpose. And this is only the beginning of what I know Divine Destination Homes will become.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. Building something from the ground up comes with challenges that people don’t always see. From navigating licensing and regulations to making major financial decisions and investing into the home, there have been moments where everything felt overwhelming.
There were times I questioned myself and had to make decisions without feeling fully certain. Stepping into a leadership role while still growing personally has stretched me in ways I did not expect. I had to learn how to lead even on the days I did not feel completely confident, and that required a different level of discipline and faith.
Some of the hardest challenges were internal. Pushing past self doubt, pressure, and the desire to get everything right was not easy. But those moments forced me to grow, trust myself, and become more intentional about how I move as both a woman and a business owner.
Every challenge has taught me something. It has not been perfect, but it has been purposeful, and it has shaped me into a stronger, more resilient leader with a clear vision for what I am building.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Registered Nurse and the founder of Divine Destination Homes, a residential assisted living home where we provide personalized, high quality care in a more intimate setting. I specialize in caring for individuals who need a higher level of support, including those with mobility limitations and memory care needs.
What I am known for is the level of attention and intention I bring into the home. I focus on creating an environment where residents feel safe, comfortable, and genuinely cared for, while families feel a sense of peace and trust. Being nurse led allows me to bring a clinical eye to care, while still maintaining a warm, home like atmosphere.
What I am most proud of is building something from the ground up that reflects my values. I did not want to follow the standard model of care, I wanted to create something more personal, where quality is not compromised and every resident is treated with dignity and respect.
What sets me apart is that I am hands on and deeply involved. I am not just overseeing operations, I am present, engaged, and committed to the experience of every resident in my care. I lead with both knowledge and heart, and that combination is what makes Divine Destination Homes different.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is the quality of care people receive and the way they feel while receiving it. I believe everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued, especially during the most vulnerable stages of their life.
In my work, that means creating an environment where residents are not just being taken care of, but truly seen and understood. It also means giving families peace of mind, knowing their loved one is in a place where compassion and dignity are a priority.
Beyond that, growth and purpose matter deeply to me. I am committed to building something that not only serves others, but also reflects who I am and what I stand for. I want my work to have meaning and to make a real impact in my community.
At the core of everything I do is intention. I move with purpose, I lead with compassion, and I strive to create something that leaves a lasting difference in the lives of the people I serve.
