Conversations with Jason Ciccone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Ciccone.

Jason Ciccone

Hi Jason, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
In 1998, I used to set up a food booth selling gyros, cheesesteaks, and sausage dogs at festivals. I created a sauce to go over my gyros, and everyone said it was the best around. Every year, people would tell us they were waiting all year to get another gyro.

In 1999, hurricane Floyd took everything from us, so we had no more shows after that. The sauce remained a family get-together special, and our family enjoyed it; we would use it for gyros and as a dip for chips & veggies, and it kept going from there, and no matter what, we were required to bring the chips and the dip “the gyro sauce” to all the gatherings. Since then, we have created 15 flavors but decided to launch off with 3- The Original, Cheesy Garlic, and Jalapeno.

How did we come up with Jammin Jays Dip Mix as a name? Every time our family would get together, my nephew James would say, Uncle Jay, your dip is Jammin. My nephew was in the Army, and when he came back from war. On November 26, 2012, he took his life – He, my nephew “James” is the creator of the name brand.

Our logo was created by my daughter in law Megan, I had said I just need something simple and unique to us – She drew the Jammin Jay man freehand – and we loved its look simplistic and unique.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would love to say it has been a smooth road. It has been a slow and steady learning process. From social media to the grocery stores. The product is great. Not everyone knows who Jammin Jays is.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Three year ago, I decided to bring Jammin Jays to the Market. As of now, I work full-time for the state as A sales rep for the North Carolina Education Lottery(18yrs) and full-time with Jammin Jays. I am very good with time management. I also have the gift to gab. Get me talking, and I just might not stop.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the COVID-19 crisis?
As for any political views, I keep that separate from business side. I, however, started down the road with social media and do more business through phone, emails, and text.
