Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Townsend

Hi Jenna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
For as long as I can remember I have always loved styling hair. I was that little girl braiding my doll’s hair in my room and, later, trying out new styles on myself and my friends for proms and school dances. This passion led me to pursue a degree in Cosmetology and I started Hair by Jenna Townsend shortly after graduating 8 years ago! Bridal hair styling has been such a wonderful way to combine my passion for hairstyling with helping dozens of brides feel their most beautiful for their wedding day! Although I’m passionate about all styling, I specialize in romantic, boho styles with loose curls, braids, and soft accents.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have loved every minute of styling bridal hair and for the most part it has been a smooth road, I’m blessed to have the BEST brides and clients! A few challenges I’ve faced along the way have been initially getting my name out in the wedding industry in Raleigh which has many wonderful beauty companies. Additionally, in 2020 during Covid there were several months that I was not allowed to work due to shutdowns during the pandemic! This impacted many in the wedding industry as most weddings had to be postponed or changed due to gathering restrictions.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I offer onsite hair styling services for weddings! I specialize in romantic, boho styles that often include braids, loose tendrils, and half-up styles. I love working with large bridal parties and often style 8+ ladies on a wedding day. I’m most proud of my half-up styles which really showcase an elevated, natural style that lasts all day. I’m know for offering quality, long-lasting work while also working on schedule and relaxing and having fun with the bridal party! I love getting to chat and sing with bridal parties as we get ready together!

How do you define success?
Success means more to me that having the biggest business or the most clients. I consider myself the most successful when I am able to glorify God by being creative in my work and meeting the needs of people. Nothing brings me more joy and satisfaction than seeing the smile on a bride’s face when she looks beautiful or offering a hug and a listening ear when she’s stressed about final details. Success to me is also getting to work on a flexible schedule so that I can enjoy time at home with my husband and son.
