Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Epp.
Hi Jessica, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was a mom of four and in a particularly difficult season and looking for a creative outlet. One evening I asked my husband to draw out a feather earring I had in my mind but could find online. He did, and from there my very first earring was made. I began selling these earrings and eventually grew to be Epp and Co offering a variety of jewelry and some apparel. I’ve learned over time that some of the most challenging season bring about some of the most beautiful things on the other side.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Starting a business from the ground up was quite an undertaking. I had no idea where to start. There were endless nights of research and YouTube videos on how to legally become a business and build an online website. I was the photographer, editor, social media manager, marketer and brand all in one. Covid brought unique challenges as well but here we are on the other side! It’s such s joy to see hard work grow into fruition. I’m so grateful for my customers who have grown with me.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a busy mom of four but professionally, I’m an entrepreneur specializing in e-commerce sales and marketing. Something I have wanted this brand to be marked by is customer relations. I try to see the person behind the transaction. It’s such a joy to get to know my customers even in the online space. I hope Epp & Co is marked by our customer service and the value we place on people.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I’ve never been a big believer in luck. It’s just always been too distant for me, however, my personal faith has been what has guided me in this business journey. I think God brought this business into my life when I needed it the most during a difficult season. For that, I will be forever grateful. If it all ends tomorrow (which I pray it doesn’t), this will forever have been marked as a gift to me.
