Conversations with Katie Taylor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Taylor.

Hi Katie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My interest in photography started when I was in 8th grade. My dad put me in charge of taking photos on a family trip with a little digital camera that you could put in your pocket & since that time, I’ve been obsessed with everything about photography. I started to practice photography in college, taking senior photos for students & friends on campus & really got to explore using a DSLR camera. I stopped for a bit when I joined the corporate world and only had a little time to focus on my passion. In 2021 I got serious about focusing on photography & giving out free photo sessions & then this year, I decided to work on making my passion an actual business. My goal & current plan is to go full-time with my photography business in January 2023.

You wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
It hasn’t been the smoothest of roads. However, I have learned a lot along the way. I am new to the NC area, having moved from VA. Not knowing anyone here makes it a lot harder to market my business. I’m very grateful that everyone is so lovely here! Social medial sites like instagram/ Facebook have been beneficial in reaching out to people for free photo shoots to get my business name out there.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a photographer & I specialize in couple, family, portrait, lifestyle & wedding/elopement photography. I am very much a people person & as your photographer. I will 100% hype you up during your photo shoot to make you feel super comfortable behind the camera. I always try to make the photo shoots fun & easygoing, as I know being behind the lens can feel awkward. My goal is to make you feel your best & to also have photos that you will cherish for life! My main goal is to give everyone photos they love & capture everyone’s authentic selves. I want to make them feel amazing about themselves after the photo shoot & especially after they get their completed galleries. Everyone deserves to have their happy moments frozen in time forever & I feel grateful that I get to help make that happen.
