Conversations with Lance Sanders

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lance Sanders.

Hi Lance, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story starts in the basement of my mother’s house. Throwing house parties at 15 and making $600 while doing it gave me a quick insight to what I was good at, Bringing people TOGETHER. Growing up in Durham and in St Joseph’s AME, I quickly learned the value of community, doing community service every first Saturday of my grade school years I can pin point those two things to contribute to where I am today, as Event curator and community activist.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Challenges are a part of life. From a spotty college football career that eventually led to suspension from the team, or trying to fit in the “box” of corporate jobs and consistency. My road has t been smooth but I believe each bump has been necessary to continue to grow.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a event coordinator and manager. Specializing in Community engaging events and fundraisers. Largely known for my partnership with Historically Black colleges and universities alumni engagement departments.
Creating a medium between events, nightlife and fundraising, I have been able to carve out a niche sector in the entertainment world.

My pride and joy is my adopt a highway street in Durham, NC. To influence and encourage others to serve the community, continues to drive me forward.

What does success mean to you?
I define success in my home. My loving wife Michele and my son Landon, are my measuring rod. To raise a Good person is my ultimate goal for success.
