Conversations with Parker Duerink

Today we’d like to introduce you to Parker Duerink.

Parker, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It was after I had my first child. My husband was working and I was a stay-at-home mom. I wanted to find a way that I could make income from home and contribute to the family. So I started growing my Instagram.

I thought if I could get 2-4 collaborations a month then that would be awesome. I started primarily with motherhood content. I felt like people didn’t talk enough about postpartum and postpartum depression.

As I grew and developed as a person, my content shifted. Also as my children got older, I did not want to exploit them considering that my account is monetized.

Brands saw my children more than me, and I didn’t feel that pursuing that would be appropriate. So now, I post about things I love and the life I live outside of motherhood and having children. I’m so much more than that anyway. It only makes up one part of me. I am a complex character with many different angles, dreams, and beliefs.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been hard to keep momentum. Especially, when I felt like I didn’t identify as a motherhood blogger anymore. I felt there was a small identity crisis. It’s so important to have a niche and for a while, I felt like I had no direction.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I create content for myself as well as for businesses. I have experience managing social media business accounts and creating written, video, and photo content for small businesses. I’m proud of myself for getting comfortable putting myself out there.

I grew confident in myself enough to broadcast my life to thousands of people. I think that’s what sets me apart: I’m going to show the good, the bad, the ugly, and the mundane. My content will always be authentic.

Any big plans?
I am hoping to grow my following to 100k by the end of 2022. This is a goal I’ve set for myself to help me remain consistent in interacting and serving my audience. The number represents credibility and authority to me, that’s why it’s important.

I dream of being on a billboard one day. I want to be an influential person in North Carolina and Raleigh. At least that’s just the beginning.
