Today we’d like to introduce you to Ray Wright.
Hi Ray, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Pit Stops for Hope (PSFH) started 11 years ago at Richard Childress Racing. Jesus said, “People will know you’re my disciples by how you love one another.” PSFH has been built on this statement and it continues to motivate the cause of serving those in need. Words mean little, actions and serving speak loudly in the community today.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
PSFH has definitely adapted to fundraising obstacles. You learn just how powerful money is running a Charity. Most businesses don’t care about helping charities if they lose money. But we’ve adapted and defeated obstacles that were put before us. Charity is like anything else… if you’re gonna be a bear, may as well be a Grizzly bear. You have to go get what you want aggressively… but the beauty is you’re getting it for other people.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have worked at Richard Childress Racing for 15 years. I started off strength training the pit crews, then I became a member of a pit crew, now I manage the Pit Crew department. Working in Nascar has definitely helped our ability to fundraise and grow the charity. I’m grateful for all 15 years I’ve served at RCR.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
There are absolutely too many people to thank for getting PSFH off the ground. RCR allowed me to start this, Mike Dillon has always supported what we do in the community, Austin Dillon, TDM and absolutely countless others. From coworkers, to friends, to politicians, to business owners. PSFH is truly a grassroots charity.
