Conversations with Sarah Gonzalez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Gonzalez.

Hi Sarah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I launched FLII Apparel & Accessories while traveling for a contract job. I was designing a custom piece as a creative outlet when a client suggested adding a special element inspired by their child.”

This interaction inspired me to capture that positive energy. I realized that young people need more daily affirmations and uplifting messages reflected in what they wear. That realization became the foundation of FLII.”

FLII stands for Fierce Leading Intelligent Individual. It is a brand built on empowering present and the next generation to see their own value and strength.

Building this brand on the road required deep resilience. Through unwavering consistency, strong determination, and active engagement at local social and industry events, and a good support system, I turned a mobile hobby into a growing business.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting this brand was a challenging journey. I had no roadmap and did not know where to begin. My only clear goal was to build a bold, positive brand that inspires self-belief. I had to learn business structures, production, target markets, legalities, sourcing, and manufacturing from scratch. My biggest hurdle was overcoming the fear of failing my own vision

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a travel contract worker, I travel across the United States with a team of other contractors to support job sites facing high turnover or labor shortages, stabilizing operations until they are ready for a permanent crew before moving to my next assignment. Outside of my contract work, I previously owned a photography studio in Virginia specializing in children’s photography, and I am most proud of raising my two children into successful entrepreneurs: my daughter, who practices natural hair care and loc maintenance, and my son, who runs a clothing brand while studying business management.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the support I have found with individuals in the city and this city is a great source of knowledge.
