Today we’d like to introduce you to Sebastian Pozo.
Hi Sebastian, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Venezuela and my artistic journey began at the age of 16 when I got started in the world of graffiti for a few years. This experience ignited a passion for tattooing, as I was captivated by the idea of creating lasting art on the human canvas. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of tattooing in many countries around the globe. Today, I’m thrilled to have established my own studio, Real Tattoo Club, in Raleigh, North Carolina, where I continue to bring everlasting art to life.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey has definitely not been smooth! Relocating to different countries meant starting from scratch each time, learning to adapt to the local culture and build my reputation anew. When I arrived in the United States, I faced the additional challenge of overcoming the language barrier, which required me to quickly get up to speed. Moreover, the tattoo industry is ever-evolving, so there’s a constant need to study and adapt to new techniques and trends to stay at the forefront of the craft.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a tattoo artist of 14 years, I like to mix many styles together to create something unique but, I specialize in Surrealism. I’d say I’m most known for how quickly I’m able to finish large scale pieces and I’m most proud of opening my own studio to provide me the opportunity to travel all over the United States to participate in more tattoo conventions.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
The thing that matters the most to me would have to be connecting with people. I think the most important part of my job is being able to connect with my clients and understand their story to provide them with a piece they’ll love for a lifetime, really knowing my clients and having that trusting bond helps me adapt the piece to create fluidity with their body.
