Conversations with Shanon Kindred

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanon Kindred

Hi Shanon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I created a body butter for my oldest daughter in 2010 when she was a few months old. I had tried several brands of baby lotion to soothe her dry skin and mild eczema and they just weren’t helping. Now she has softer skin and the eczema outbreaks have been reduced. Seeing the positive results on my baby’s skin (and mine), I became passionate about making other skincare products for my family that were as clean as possible. At the urging of family and friends, I began selling my creations in 2014.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. I’ve faced changes in family dynamics, lack of funding, Covid shutdowns, and supply chain issues among other obstacles.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I create skincare products from nourishing domestic and exotic plant butters, oils, and extracts to pamper your skin while delighting your senses. I think what sets me apart is my dedication to creating high-quality products for my loved ones and customers. I’m also honest about the ingredients I use and like to educate my customers about them.

What were you like growing up?
I was kind of shy growing up, but I didn’t have trouble making friends. I did well in school and science has always been one of my favorite subjects.
