Today we’d like to introduce you to TaMara High.
Hi TaMara, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been passionate about cooking. Since a young girl, I have always been in the kitchen helping my grandmother and mother prepare meals. Some meals were small for Sunday dinner and other meals were feasts for family reunions. I took this passion with me to college and began having plate sales. My sales were very successful, so I decided to take the next step and begin my company.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Catering is not always easy. One struggle I have is finding a reliable assistant to help with large events. I did have reliable assistant up until about October 2022, but a better opportunity came their way. Now I’m doing each event alone or with the help of family. Although I have these struggles, as an entrepreneur, it’s important to always remain calm and collected in every tough situation.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in southern cuisine and pescatarian options. Most of my clients have fallen in love with my seafood boils with my special “dank” seasoning. I’m most proud of my private dinners I offer for clients who want to enjoy a memorable dining experience with their love ones in their homes.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I’m terms of networking, pop-up shops and social media has worked well for me.
