Conversations with Taylor Grieve

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Grieve.

Hi Taylor, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my business as a bake sale in December of 2021. The money went to a mental health charity. I sold pies, tarts, cream puffs, and cookies. My cookies were very popular, so when the holidays were over, I started an Instagram page where people could dm me and buy my cookies. I was getting so many orders within the first month, and I was lucky enough to be able to create a website for myself. I changed my name from “Tays cookies” to “Tays bake shop.” I’ve been selling cupcakes, cookies, and sometimes cakes.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting my business has been mostly smooth running. I would say that my only struggle was being able to price my products and time properly.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I would say my business is most known for its cookies. They are the most popular, and I could have just stuck with only that, but I enjoy being able to offer lots of different desserts. I’m most proud of how far my business has come in the 7 months I’ve had it. I started when I was 16 and could balance my orders and school.

What’s next?
I’m looking forward to going to school next year for pastry arts. My plans include being able to open a storefront. I think that will help me expand my business and abilities so much.
