Conversations with Troy Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Troy Johnson.

Troy Johnson

Hi Troy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I was just an ordinary guy going about life in Raleigh, North Carolina. One day, while I was at my local church, something extraordinary happened. I felt a deep, divine connection that filled me with purpose and ignited a fire within me.

It was in that moment that I realized I had a mission – to create positive change in my community. That divine experience was like a calling, urging me to make a difference, especially in the lives of young people.

With unwavering determination, I founded the non-profit mentoring program YM4C (Young Men 4 Christ). It became my way of nurturing the potential of the younger generation, helping them dream big, and empowering them to overcome obstacles.

From that day forward, my life had a new direction. I became a catalyst for positive change, one young mind at a time, and it all began with a divine experience in my local church.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting YM4C (Young Men 4 Christ) was a dream ignited by a divine experience, but turning that dream into reality was a journey filled with struggles. Finding financial support, dedicated mentors and volunteers, and raising awareness proved to be challenging. However, our unwavering belief in our mission helped us overcome these obstacles.

Over time, as we demonstrated the impact of our program, the community rallied behind us.

YM4C stands as a testament to the power of perseverance and community support for a cause they believe in.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve always believed that to make a real impact in the world of serving at-risk youth, one has to go beyond just the surface-level efforts. I’ve been fortunate enough to combine my passion for making a difference with the power of storytelling and media production through my work at Bro Code TV Productions.

For me, it’s not just about addressing the issues these young people face; it’s about giving them a voice, empowering them, and letting their stories be heard. That’s why I’ve mastered the art of storytelling, using video as a medium to convey the powerful narratives of these inspiring young individuals.

At YM4C (Young Men 4 Christ), we know that connecting with at-risk youth requires more than just words. It demands a genuine understanding of their struggles and aspirations.

We believe in “couch conversations,” where we sit down with these young souls, creating a safe space for them to express themselves openly and authentically. It’s in these conversations that we discover the unique strength and resilience of each individual.

Excellence, passion, and attention to detail are our guiding principles. We approach every project with vigor, knowing that the stories we tell have the potential to change lives.

But most of all, what sets us apart is our authenticity and genuine love for bringing out the best in people.

We don’t just see at-risk youth as statistics or problems to be solved; we see them as the future. We believe in their potential, and we’re here to provide them with the platform and support they need to succeed.

Through our work, we’re not only making a difference today but also building a better tomorrow. That is something we are extremely proud of.

And that, to me, is what sets us apart in the world of serving at-risk youth—our unwavering commitment to genuine change through the art of storytelling, production, and, above all, love.

No one ☝🏾 does it better!

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
For most of my life, I carried around a heavy burden – quite literally. I struggled with morbid obesity until I reached the age of 31. It wasn’t just about the extra pounds; it was the impact on my health and overall well-being that weighed me down.

One day, I made the decision to undergo gastric bypass surgery to take control of my life and health. It was a significant step, but it wasn’t without its challenges. The surgery was a major procedure, and the recovery process was tough. I had to relearn how to eat, what to eat, and when to eat. It was a journey filled with ups and downs.

I faced some complications during my recovery that made me realize how close I came to losing my life. It was a wake-up call, a stark reminder of the seriousness of my situation. But it also reinforced my determination to embrace this second chance.

Recovery was a slow process, but it was worth it. Over time, I started shedding the weight that had held me back for so long. It wasn’t just about the physical transformation; it was the improved health and increased vitality that made a world of difference.

This experience taught me the importance of self-care, resilience, and the value of life itself. It was a journey of self-discovery, and I emerged from it with a newfound appreciation for the gift of health and a deep gratitude for the opportunity to live life to the fullest…

Today, that experience is the FUEL ⛽️ towards my success in anything I curate.
