Hi Vanessa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I never imagined I’d become a nail technician. For more than 10 years, I worked as a child care provider, dedicating my time to caring for and teaching young children. While I loved making a difference in their lives, I eventually realized I wanted to pursue something that allowed me to express my creativity in a new way.
Becoming a nail technician has been an exciting journey. It has given me the opportunity to combine artistry with helping people feel confident and beautiful. Although my career path changed, my passion for caring for others has remained the same—just in a different form. Today, I’m proud of how far I’ve come and excited to continue growing in this industry.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting over in a completely different career was both exciting and challenging. I had to step outside of my comfort zone, learn new skills, build confidence in my work, and establish myself in a new industry. There were moments of self-doubt and times when I questioned if I had made the right decision. Balancing life, work, and continuing to grow professionally wasn’t always easy. But every challenge has helped me become stronger, more determined, and more passionate about what I do. Looking back, I’m grateful for the journey because it has shaped me into the nail technician I am today.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a licensed nail technician who is passionate about creating beautiful, healthy nails while providing a relaxing and welcoming experience for every client. I specialize in clean, detailed nail work and take pride in making sure each set is customized to fit my client’s personality and style.
What I’m most proud of is having the courage to leave a career I had for over 10 years to pursue something I truly love. My background in child care taught me patience, attention to detail, and how to make people feel comfortable—qualities that I now bring to every nail appointment.
What sets me apart is the genuine care I have for my clients. I believe every appointment is more than just a service; it’s an opportunity to help someone feel confident, heard, and appreciated. My goal is for every client to leave not only loving their nails but also feeling refreshed, valued, and excited to come back.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was quiet, caring, and always creative. I’ve always enjoyed helping others and making people feel comfortable, which is one of the reasons I spent over 10 years working in child care. I also loved anything that allowed me to be creative, whether it was doing hair, decorating, or working with my hands.
I’ve always believed in working hard and pushing through challenges, even when things weren’t easy. That determination has carried over into my career as a nail technician. Looking back, I can see that the qualities I had growing up—patience, compassion, creativity, and resilience—have all played a big role in helping me become the person and business owner I am today.
