Daily Inspiration: Meet Allie Gallardo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allie Gallardo

Hi Allie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started out as Allie Rose MUA back in high school around 2011, teaching myself the ropes of makeup artistry. Not long after, I got into SFX makeup, face painting, and body painting—I was doing it all! But when the pandemic hit in 2020, work came to a halt for about two years. During that time, I had a chance to rethink what I really wanted to focus on, so I shifted away from makeup and started specializing in face and body painting, adding airbrush and glitter tattoos as extras. I’ve come a long way since those early days, and now, in my 30s, so much has changed.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth journey. I’ve faced artist blocks, the struggles of the pandemic, moments when I thought about quitting, really slow months, and financial hardships. It feels like I’ve been through it all as a business owner. But despite all of that, I’ve never given up—I keep pushing through every bump in the road.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
These days, I’m best known for my face painting, especially the Mexican influences in my designs. This year, I’m really proud of the work I’ve been doing with nonprofits in the Latino community—helping to bring more awareness to the arts and a lot of smiles to our community. What sets me apart is my resilience and dedication. I’m determined not only to make my business something that can fully support my family but also to help the arts get the recognition they deserve as a legitimate profession.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
It’s funny to think about because if you ask my friends and family now, they’ll all tell you I did a complete 180. Growing up, I wasn’t in the best environment, and my creativity didn’t get the support I wished it had. Back then, I’d build and paint model low riders, draw and trace tattoos, and dance, but I never imagined I’d end up making a career out of art.
