Daily Inspiration: Meet Ashley Cox

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Cox.

Hi Ashley, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began my journey as an art major at Greensboro College in 2000, falling in love with film photography’s developing process. Transitioning to digital in 2006, I began shooting for family and friends, ultimately launching my business. Today, I specialize in weddings and commercial branding, turning my lifelong passion into a rewarding career.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There are always hurdles and obstacles; it is a learning process, and everyone has the opportunity to learn something new each day. The key question is whether we apply what we learn and grow or remain stagnant. I choose to consistently grow and learn, which involves being accountable. The journey has not been the easiest, but it has contributed significantly to personal development as an artist and human being,

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a true extrovert, I’m a ‘people person’ through and through.I love the energy of a wedding day and the beauty of a great love story. My goal is to make every client feel completely at ease, allowing me to catch those raw, candid moments while maintaining a polished, editorial aesthetic.
Whether I’m navigating tricky lighting or chasing one of my signature sunsets over Belews Lake at the Bella Collina Mansion, I pride myself on making every moment look as magical as it feels. Ultimately, I want you to look at your photos and feel every ounce of joy and emotion tied to your memories of the day.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My journey as an artist began at Greensboro College, where I was pushed to realize my true potential by my professors, Dr. Jim Langer and Dr. Ray Martin. Their belief in my vision gave me the foundation I needed to turn a passion for Art into a lifelong career.
That foundation was strengthened by my family and friends, who have been truly instrumental in my success. They have been my loudest cheerleaders and most reliable supporters from the very beginning; at one point or another, they have all pitched in to help, and I’m even lucky enough now to have some of them working alongside me, shooting and creating content. Special shout out to Allison McGuire and Charlotte Revels. I am currently also mentoring my great niece Bella who has found a passion for photography and content creation,
My business reached a new turning point during the pandemic when I met Joe DeStefano while shooting an elopement. Joe, who owns several stunning venues including the Bella Collina Mansion, became a mentor to me during that uncertain time. Thanks to his guidance, I now work with over ten venues in his network, where I’ve been blessed to meet incredible people and fellow vendors who make this industry so special.
