Daily Inspiration: Meet Bethany Duffrin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bethany Duffrin.

Hi Bethany, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
During a time when the world stood still, something unexpected began to bloom.
In the middle of lockdown, I had my teenage nieces over, armed with plenty of craft kits to keep us busy indoors. When I opened a Michaels clay kit, a few clay cutters and earring bezels tumbled out — and that’s where it all began.

I was new to polymer clay, but I found something deeply therapeutic in molding it with my hands, blending colors, and letting creativity guide me. As a self-proclaimed “winger,” I didn’t watch tutorials or read the instruction sheet — which meant my first pieces were, let’s just say, more “abstract art” than jewelry! But I loved the process, the play, and the endless freedom of ideas.

Within a few months, my creations started to look like pieces you’d actually want to wear. I gifted earrings to family and friends, and soon they started asking, “Why aren’t you selling these?” That encouragement led me to launch my first business, Wearables by B, in January 2023.

From there, my brand evolved alongside my artistry. Inspired by nature’s textures and the bold elegance of vintage and art deco design, my work grew more refined and expressive. By mid-2024, I renamed my business WearEvers — a name born from countless customers who told me they loved my jewelry but felt they had “nowhere to wear it.” But why wait? Personal style shouldn’t come with rules or restrictions. If it speaks to you, wear it wherever. And so, WearEvers was born.

Today, every piece is still made by hand, one-of-a-kind, and designed with intention. I’ve expanded from earrings into adjustable rings, necklaces, bracelets, and hair accessories — always blending clay with metals, textures, and timeless aesthetics. In a competitive industry, what sets WearEvers apart is simple: no two creations are ever alike.

WearEvers isn’t just jewelry. It’s a reminder to live authentically, embrace your unique style, and wear what you love — everywhere, every day.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like any small business, WearEvers has faced its share of struggles — but those challenges have made the successes even sweeter. One of the steepest learning curves has been understanding the world of business finances and tax rules, which is very different from the creative side of jewelry-making. Growing a presence on social media has also been tough in an environment dominated by fast trends and big-box fashion brands. And on a personal level, learning to say “no” has been one of the hardest lessons — I’m passionate about what I do and want to say yes to every opportunity, but I’ve realized that protecting my time and focus is just as important as creating.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
WearEvers is based in Durham, NC and I create out of my home studio. You can find me in 10+ local boutiques and at various markets/festivals throughout the triangle region. I am known for my Bridgeton meets Nature aesthetic across all my work and each piece being truly one of a kind – no duplicates, ever. I take pride in offering sensitive skin friendly metal and size inclusive adjustable rings for all. I also donate a portion of my proceeds to a local grass roots animal rescue organization each month. Last year, I donated over 7k and will continue to giveback in meaningful ways.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
In addition to my WearEvers business, I launched a artist/creator focused community in August of this year. This idea came after learning the ropes from starting WearEvers from scratch. I was not plugged into the local community and did not know where to start or end on many things. As I learned and began forming partnerships in the community, I felt called to share this wisdom and resources with fellow creatives. I built, funded, and launched The Triangle Hive on August 1. The hive’s goal is to be a one stop for all things small business related for artists. This includes: a comprehensive list of open calls/event applications, market reviews, social media knowledge, business tax resources, and connecting with fellow creatives.
