Daily Inspiration: Meet Chandra Mayne

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chandra Mayne.

Hi Chandra, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Absolutely! My journey began in California in 2010 when I became a licensed Cosmetologist. From the start, I was drawn to the artistry and intentional care behind natural nails. Over the years, I built a reputation for specializing in structured gel manicures and hand-painted nail art, all while nurturing meaningful relationships with my clients.

After spending seven years in Texas, life brought our family to North Carolina in search of new opportunities—both personally and professionally. That move inspired the vision for Nail Haus Café, a concept I’m now building from the ground up in Apex. I wanted to create more than just a salon—I envisioned a warm, welcoming space where artistry, self-care, and community intersect. The café-inspired atmosphere brings it all together, offering clients a place to relax, indulge, and feel truly cared for.

It’s been a journey of hard work, continued growth, and staying grounded in what I love most: healthy nails, intentional service, and creating beauty that lasts. As we grow our roots here in Apex, we’re so excited to welcome new clients into the Nail Haus Café family.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but every twist in the journey helped shape who I am today. I took a long break from the industry to travel, grow personally, fall in love, and build a family. That time away was necessary, but stepping back into nails after years off wasn’t easy. The saying is true—if you don’t use it, you lose it. I had to retrain my hands, rebuild my confidence, and relearn the discipline of the craft I once knew so well.

During the pandemic, like many people, I was forced to slow down and reflect. That’s when I rediscovered my love for nails and realized how much I missed the creativity, the connection, and the sense of purpose it gave me. Starting over felt overwhelming at times—especially with the pressure of balancing motherhood, family life, and entrepreneurship—but I’m proud that I didn’t give up. I gave myself permission to grow, and that made all the difference.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Nail Haus Café, I specialize in natural nail care, structure gel manicures, and detailed hand-painted nail art. I’m known for creating a relaxing, elevated experience that focuses on both the health and beauty of the nails. My approach is rooted in intention—everything from the prep work to the final top coat is done with care and precision.

I work exclusively with high-quality Japanese and Korean gels, which allow me to create strong, beautiful nails without compromising their natural integrity. I also offer a tiered nail art menu called Café Creations, which allows clients to explore creative, custom designs at different levels of detail.

What sets me apart is that I truly treat nails as a craft—not just a service. I’ve built a space where clients feel seen, pampered, and valued. It’s not about rushing through appointments or keeping up with trends; it’s about building trust and delivering consistent, beautiful results that last.

I’m most proud of the community I’ve cultivated—clients who feel at home, confident, and cared for. To me, that’s what makes this work meaningful.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Absolutely. I’m a big believer in lifelong learning and staying inspired. Podcasts like Gloss Genius’s The Glossy Goodies and The Beauty Business Podcast have helped me think more strategically about building a beauty brand, not just a business. I also love Goal Digger by Jenna Kutcher for marketing insights and encouragement as a female entrepreneur.

As a creative, I find a lot of value in platforms like Pinterest and Instagram—not just for nail art inspiration, but for staying connected to trends, colors, and textures that influence my work. And of course, apps like Notion and Trello help keep my ideas, schedules, and goals organized.

Outside of business, I lean into devotionals, journaling, and audiobooks to ground me spiritually and mentally—especially as a mom and entrepreneur. It’s important for me to pour into myself so I can show up fully for my family, clients, and business.
