Daily Inspiration: Meet Christina Gordon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Gordon.

Hi Christina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
It all started back in 2017 when I first got my brows tattooed. I have always drawn on my eyebrows since middle school, so when I heard this was a thing and got it done, it changed my life! I knew from the moment that I needed to do this as my career. Fast forward to 2021. I finally took the leap, got certified, and went straight to work on building my permanent makeup business.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been the easiest road to trying to build my clientele. I’m from California, so I had to start fresh here in North Carolina. I have just been trying to meet many people, network, and offer my services. Being an artist in a new state can be a struggle, so I contacted the best tattoo shop in Charlotte, “Seventh Sin tattoo,” and asked if they wanted to add a permanent makeup artist to their team. I was so beyond excited when they agreed to bring me on! They are truly the most genuine people and the best in the tattoo industry! So now you can find me there!

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My background has been in the service and hospitality industry, with a focus on breweries and beer education. From there, I went on to the beer sales side. My dream of becoming a permanent makeup artist has always been at the back of my mind, and I knew one day I would do it. Once I finally got certified, my only thought was, “I should have started sooner.” Now that I have become a permanent makeup artist, I specialize in eyebrows, lips, blushing, and faux freckles. My true love is eyebrows. I would say I’m most known for my brow works and my infamous heart freckle.

What sets me apart is that I know the feeling of feeling insecure about yourself. Growing up, I barely had any eyebrows, so once I knew how to draw them on, I would never let anyone see me without any brow makeup. I can relate to many people who have the same insecurity, maybe not even with eyebrows. Maybe they’re insecure about their lips. Either way, I knew I was here to make people feel beautiful. And if you can wake up with makeup and feel great about yourself or even cut down your get-ready time, I know I made a difference in someone’s life, and that’s why I wanted to get into this profession.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I was planning to start my permanent makeup journey the year Covid hit, so when I had to wait, it made me more hungry to start. It also made me realize that I was not living life for myself and working for others to get a secure paycheck. Starting your own business is no joke, and it’s scary, but if you truly believe in yourself and love what you do, the possibilities are endless.
