Daily Inspiration: Meet Crissy Fishbane & Cindi Michaelson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crissy Fishbane & Cindi Michaelson. Them and their team share their story with us below:

When Crissy and Cindi first met, they quickly realized that, while they were at different stages of motherhood, they faced many of the same struggles. While Crissy was navigating severe postpartum anxiety, Cindi was contending with the medical and school systems fighting to get her daughter the help she needed. Both felt frustrated, lonely, overwhelmed, and exhausted. They immediately developed a strong bond and appreciated feeling understood by a fellow mom.

Crissy and Cindi also connected over their careers in wellness, having served as personal trainers and health coaches. Through this work, they collectively spoke with hundreds of moms and recognized that the gap in care was a universal theme of the postpartum experience. They realized that countless women were navigating motherhood with an inadequate support system.

Crissy and Cindi felt driven to do something. They knew women were being underserved by the current system. Mothers were slipping between the cracks, forced to seek answers on their own and navigate a disparate system of care without access to the village of support often enjoyed by previous generations. Crissy and Cindi saw a need to provide real support for mothers and set out to build a system that would better serve them. Thus, HER Health Collective was born.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

Crissy and Cindi often joke that they don’t know how to do things in a small way. HER Health Collective is a large endeavor with a lot of moving parts.

From the Mama Needs a Moment podcast to the incredible HER Circle community, the HER expert panel to the library of continually expanding content for moms, the fundraisers for local charities and everything in between, HER Health Collective has been a juggling act from the very beginning.

As a two-woman show, they rely on one another a lot. These two have a strong friendship which has been cemented by the challenges of running a business together. They often share about their different strengths and personalities, which plays a huge role in helping them both to stay grounded and focused on the core values of HER Health Collective.

Crissy and Cindi had a vision and knew what services and support they wanted to provide moms. It hasn’t always been easy to find the time to bring every piece of that vision to life, but the drive and passion these two women have for their mission have kept them moving forward.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?

HER Health Collective has a two-pronged approach to serving moms. The first key component is our resource network, including a panel of experts and a library of vetted content that provides moms easy access to trusted information. HER Health Collective has brought together experts from a variety of fields such as nutrition, psychology, functional medicine, pelvic floor physical therapy, health coaching, and parent coaching. Together we foster collaboration across disparate industries to move postpartum care and women’s health forward by providing moms the trustworthy information and resources they need.

The second key component HER Health Collective offers is HER Circle, our supportive membership-based community for moms. Our mission is to create a space for women to foster authentic relationships with other mothers while also providing educational opportunities around important topics (e.g., postpartum depression, racial inequality, avoiding burnout, overcoming workplace barriers). HER Circle hosts a variety of events every month including a book club, conversation circle, lunch-in, family adventures, hikes, workouts, moms’ night out, field trips, playdates, volunteer opportunities, Expert Q&A’s, and more. These events are specifically designed to allow moms to connect with one another, tap into their creative sides, try something new, learn something of value, and make genuine friendships with other moms.

HER Health Collective is not just a mom group. HER Health Collective is not just an educational resource. HER Health Collective combines all the pieces moms need during the fourth trimester and beyond to provide the supportive community so many moms are missing in today’s society. HER Circle serves moms of all ages of children – we even have some members with teenagers! We know women will benefit from support from mothers of all backgrounds and stages of the motherhood journey.

We believe a mom that is provided the two key components – trusted resources and a supportive community – can conquer any challenge.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?

Ironically, for both Crissy and Cindi, many of their favorite childhood memories revolve around planning and organizing fun things for their friends to do. From birthday parties to “secret clubs” both Cindi and Crissy were gathering people together and helping others make connections from a young age!

HER Health Collective was already in the making!
