Daily Inspiration: Meet Crystal B

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal B.

Hi Crystal, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
At 19 years old, I picked up a makeup brush with no idea it would completely change the direction of my life.

At the time, I didn’t have a clear vision for my career. I just knew deep down that I was created for more—I just didn’t know what that “more” was.

I tried college. I explored nursing. I even considered psychology. I kept searching for something that felt right, but nothing ever truly stuck. No matter what I pursued, I always felt like I was forcing myself into a path that wasn’t meant for me.

Then makeup found me.

It wasn’t part of some grand plan. It wasn’t something I had dreamed about since I was a little girl. It simply fell into my lap. As I began practicing, learning, and serving people, I realized I had been given a gift. What started as curiosity quickly became purpose.

Looking back, I can see that God was directing my steps all along. While I thought I was searching for a career, He was preparing me for a calling.

Today, I’ve had the privilege of serving thousands of clients, teaching hundreds of students, building a luxury bridal beauty brand, and using my business as a ministry. None of that was part of my original plan—but it was always part of His.

Sometimes the thing you’re searching for isn’t something you have to chase. Sometimes it’s the gift God has already placed in your hands, waiting for you to steward it.

You don’t have to have your entire life figured out. Stay faithful with what’s in front of you, keep seeking God, and trust that He knows exactly where He’s leading you.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Has it been a smooth road? Absolutely not.
There were seasons when I questioned if I had made the right decision. I faced financial uncertainty, slow seasons, self-doubt, comparison, and moments where I wanted to quit. Building a business meant wearing every hat—artist, marketer, accountant, customer service, educator, and CEO—all while trying to grow personally and spiritually.
There were times when I invested in myself before I ever saw the return. Times when I worked long hours, sacrificed weekends, and poured into my dream when very few people understood the vision. I learned that talent might open the door, but consistency, discipline, and perseverance are what keep you in the room.
The biggest lesson wasn’t just learning how to do makeup—it was learning how to trust God. Every challenge taught me to depend less on my own strength and more on His direction. I realized that purpose isn’t built in comfort; it’s refined through perseverance.
Looking back, I’m grateful for every obstacle because each one shaped the woman, business owner, and leader I am today. The road wasn’t easy, but it was worth it. Every setback became part of the testimony God is still writing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the founder and lead bridal makeup artist of Crystal B Beauté, a luxury bridal beauty brand based in North Carolina. I specialize in soft glam and timeless bridal makeup that enhances a woman’s natural beauty while helping her feel confident, elegant, and at peace on one of the most important days of her life.
Over the past eight years, I’ve had the privilege of serving more than 3,000 clients and teaching over 100 aspiring makeup artists. While my passion began behind the makeup chair, my vision has grown into building a luxury bridal experience and mentoring other artists to excel in both artistry and business.
What I’m most proud of isn’t just the business I’ve built—it’s the lives I’ve impacted along the way. Whether it’s helping a bride feel her most beautiful on her wedding day, empowering a student to launch a successful career, or creating opportunities for artists through my bridal team, I believe success is measured by the people you serve.
What sets me apart is the experience I create. My clients aren’t just booking a makeup artist—they’re investing in a luxury, Christ-centered experience rooted in excellence, professionalism, and genuine care. I strive to bring a calming presence to every wedding morning, ensuring my brides feel seen, celebrated, and completely taken care of from the first inquiry to the final touch-up.
At the core of everything I do is my faith. I believe God has entrusted me with this gift, and my goal is to steward it well by serving others with excellence, integrity, and love. Makeup is simply the vehicle—my true passion is helping people feel confident while building a business that reflects the character of Christ.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
One thing that surprises most people is that I’m actually very socially awkward.
People usually assume I’m the complete opposite because I’m funny, outgoing, and confident online and with my clients. But the truth is, I’m naturally pretty quiet and can be awkward in new social settings. Once I’m comfortable, my personality comes out, and I’m always joking around and making people laugh.
I think that’s one of the reasons my clients feel so comfortable with me. While I may not be the loudest person in the room, I genuinely care about making people feel at ease. Whether it’s a bride on her wedding morning or a student in one of my classes, I want them to feel like they’re spending time with a friend.
It’s a reminder that confidence doesn’t always mean being the most outgoing person—it can also mean showing up authentically, serving people well, and allowing your gifts to speak for themselves.
