Daily Inspiration: Meet Daniel Kemp

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Kemp.

Hi Daniel, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I started with Better Ballot in September 2020, a rough time to start a grassroots non-profit. I took over as president in 2021 when the former president left because of personal issues. It has been a rollercoaster, and I wouldn’t change it for the world! It has been great talking to NC residents about RCV, and I’m glad we are finally seeing some traction.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Haha, not; starting during Covid when we couldn’t do in-person events was a massive challenge, but that has finally subsided. Another challenge has the change in leadership from the start of the organization. Also, considering we are all volunteers, we are limited in how much time we can commit to outside work and family obligations. I am grateful for every second our people spend helping bring RCV to NC!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a high school science teacher and have done sales and management for 10 yrs. I love helping people, especially young minds grow and learn more about the world. I have taught several sections of ESL science, and I find it so rewarding because they are so sweet. They are also the students who need the most help to stay in the US and hopefully learn enough skills to succeed here. Plus, it gives me a chance to practice my Spanish each day! 🙂

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
It is my passion to learn and help everyone so I can grow into a better person. I can not remember a time in my life when I was not doing my best to improve personally and bring every willing person I could.
