Daily Inspiration: Meet Danielle McDonald

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle McDonald.

Hi Danielle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
What initially started as a fun hobby to do for my children and other family/friends for years turned into a full-time dream career as of September 2023. After so much self-doubt and fear of the “what-ifs” and with the massive support of my Fiancé, I quit my comfortable 9-5 to pursue entrepreneurship while juggling motherhood. I am a mother of 3, ages 8, 3, and 1 year old. It is safe to say between raising them and the birth of Balloon Designs by Dani, I have my hands full but would not have it any other way. Within 6 months of officially offering my skill in balloon art as a service, I am booked almost every weekend. It was a dream turned reality.

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As I have always been told, anything worth having is always challenging. For the most part, it has been a smooth road. There have been minor hiccups, but I view them as learning experiences and am better prepared for the next time. In this industry, you always continue learning new methods, techniques, or even policies to enforce and ensure a smooth interaction for everyone. If I had to point out my biggest struggle, especially in the beginning, it was gaining the confidence to put myself out there and knowing the worth of the service I provide. Luckily, the clients I encountered saw my value and quickly reminded me that I belonged in this space. I appreciate every one of them.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might need to become more familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a luxury balloon artist specializing in large balloon garland installations and custom event backdrops. I’m most proud of my ability to adapt because things change in the blink of an eye in the event industry, and you have to be prepared to pivot at any moment. My ability to take something from someone’s mind, draw it on paper, and bring it to life sets me and another balloon artist apart. We create memorable moments that last a lifetime.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Let me be a walking testimony that anything is possible when you find what you love, commit 100% to it, and have faith. The late nights, early mornings, anxiety, and tears will be worth it if you put in the work and truly have faith.
