Today we’d like to introduce you to Dellys Arzolay.
Hi Dellys, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Ciudad Bolívar, Venezuela, into a family where service, faith, and leadership were part of everyday life. As the youngest of nine siblings and the daughter of a pastor, I learned early on that true impact is not measured by the recognition we receive, but by the lives we help transform.
At the age of 20, I graduated from law school, but I soon realized that my true calling was developing people. That conviction led me to pursue studies in theology, higher education, communication, and later earn a master’s degree in Educational Innovation. Throughout my career, I have also worked as a singer, songwriter, radio and television host, speaker, and academic leader. Although each chapter looked different, they all shared the same purpose: to communicate, inspire, and help others discover their potential.
Several years ago, I immigrated to the United States with my son. Like many immigrant families, I had to start over while navigating personal, professional, and financial challenges. Rather than discouraging me, those experiences strengthened my sense of purpose. I realized that leadership is not about having a stage—it is about creating opportunities where none previously existed.
With that vision, I founded the Hispanic Arts Club (CHA), a nonprofit organization in North Carolina that uses the arts as a powerful tool to strengthen cultural identity, develop talent, and bring Hispanic families together. What began as a dream has grown into an organization that serves hundreds of children, youth, and adults through artistic, educational, and cultural programs.
That same purpose inspired me to expand my work into leadership development. Today, I lead leadership clinics, deliver keynote presentations, host a podcast, and write books such as *Detras del Aplauso *, where I share the lessons I have learned throughout more than three decades of leading people and building meaningful initiatives. My passion is not simply teaching people how to achieve visible success, but helping them develop the character, emotional intelligence, and vision required to sustain it.
Looking back, I now see that every challenge, every new beginning, and every opportunity has been part of the same journey. My mission remains unchanged: to help people discover their purpose, develop their leadership, and understand that the most meaningful transformations always begin behind the applause.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all. Like many entrepreneurs and immigrants, my journey has been filled with challenges that tested both my resilience and my faith.
Starting over in a new country meant rebuilding my professional life from the ground up. I had to earn people’s trust, navigate a different culture, build a network from scratch, and create opportunities with very limited resources. There were moments when balancing motherhood, leadership, and entrepreneurship felt overwhelming, and there were times when I questioned whether I was doing enough.
One of the greatest lessons I have learned is that leadership is often developed in seasons of uncertainty rather than in moments of success. Every obstacle forced me to become more creative, more disciplined, and more intentional about the impact I wanted to make.
Today, when people see the conferences, the nonprofit organization, the books, or the leadership initiatives, they are seeing the result of years of perseverance, sacrifice, and countless unseen hours of work. Those experiences inspired the message behind my book, *Detras del Aplauso*: people often celebrate the visible achievements without realizing the perseverance, preparation, and personal growth that happen long before the applause.
I wouldn’t describe my journey as easy, but I would describe it as deeply meaningful. Every challenge has strengthened my commitment to serving others and helping them recognize that difficult seasons can become the foundation of extraordinary purpose.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work is centered on developing human potential. For more than three decades, I have had the privilege of mentoring leaders, artists, educators, and entrepreneurs, driven by the belief that when people discover their purpose, they can transform their families, their communities, and the world around them.
Today, I am the founder and president of the Hispanic Arts Club (CHA), a nonprofit organization in North Carolina dedicated to promoting artistic, cultural, and educational opportunities for the Hispanic community. In addition, I lead leadership clinics, deliver keynote presentations, write books, and create content that helps people strengthen their leadership, communication, and emotional intelligence.
My specialty is the human side of leadership. I am passionate about teaching people not only how to lead teams or achieve results, but how to build character, manage emotions, and develop authentic, sustainable leadership. I believe technical skills may open doors, but it is our character and humanity that keep those doors open.
What I am most proud of is not the organizations or projects I have built, but the people whose lives have been transformed through them. Seeing a child discover confidence through the arts, a leader make wiser decisions, or a family grow stronger because of our programs means far more to me than any award or recognition.
What sets me apart is the unique combination of experiences that have shaped my journey. I have worked as an attorney, educator, communicator, singer, songwriter, radio and television producer, speaker, and organizational leader. Rather than following a single career path, I have integrated each of those experiences into a distinctive approach that combines strategy, creativity, communication, and a deep understanding of people.
My mission remains the same: to help people discover that the most powerful leadership does not begin when others applaud us—it begins when we choose to grow into who we were created to be.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Yes. If I could give one piece of advice to those who are just starting out, it would be this: do not underestimate the power of beginning without perfect conditions.
When you are starting, it is easy to believe you need everything figured out—resources, recognition, stability, complete clarity. But in reality, most meaningful journeys begin in uncertainty. I personally had to rebuild my professional life in a new country, often without guarantees and with very limited resources, and I learned that real growth happens while you are in motion, not before you begin.
I would also say something I wish I had fully understood earlier: not everyone will understand your vision at the beginning, and that does not make it wrong. Leadership often requires holding a direction steady even when it is not yet visible to others.
Another important lesson is learning to value the invisible process. We live in a culture that celebrates outcomes, but what truly shapes a person is what no one sees—the daily discipline, the small decisions, and the consistency through uncertainty.
Finally, I would encourage them to protect their purpose. Do not trade it for external approval or immediate results. Purpose grows when it is nurtured with patience, focus, and conviction.
If I could summarize it in one idea, it would be this: do not wait until you feel ready to begin; begin, and along the way you will become the person you are meant to be.
