Daily Inspiration: Meet Diamond Kut

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diamond Kut.

Hi Diamond, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Honestly, I don’t know where to start, I was always insecure about something.. sometimes about everything. I didn’t know where I fit in or even if I actually did. But as I grew up I realized there was nothing wrong with standing out. So that’s what I did, I stood out. I didn’t even think of myself as a personality or host, but I knew I loved making people happy, making them smile. So I knew I was meant for customer service.

From building my brand to be multiple things, from being able to do hair, nails, and makeup, to even becoming a radio personality. I started on 2 different podcasts where I knew then I had an opinion and it needed to be heard. I have been through and endured things that I knew would be beneficial if I could share them. I’ve experienced things that I knew it was people out here that experienced it too and were afraid or ashamed to share.

Sometimes it only takes one voice, one person willing to say the things another is too afraid to. I knew I had to be that person. I was brought an opportunity to make money, using my gift of gab. Although the experience wasn’t all I’d hoped it would be it showed me my purpose, and from there Diamond Kut Radio was born.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road at all. From bad reviews and discrimination to debt and almost being so broke that scrounging was the next step. To sleepless days of standing on my feet for hours. Constant back problems and so much more. Diamond Kut Radio was an afterthought at first.

But I came across a small nonprofit station in NC, whose name I won’t disclose. But they sold me a dream, and a dream where making money off my actual dream was possible. Although there were other factors that played a part in my relocation, that was my main motivation.

I worked hard, actually outlining my shows, allowing myself to be vulnerable and share my pain, and the things I had endured, all because this station made me feel like people hearing you, and understanding you, relating to you would help with everything else that came with it. I wound up in debt but I knew I could do it on my own because their help wasn’t… helping.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Well… I do a lot, I am a lot. I do hair, nails, makeup, I promote, host parties, I am a radio personality, I model and I am actually seeking to try to pursue acting as well. I’m just most proud of my resilience.

I am one person who doesn’t let one thing define her. I put my all into any and everything I do because if my name is attached to it, The best is all I can do. People who know me, know me for everything I do. It isn’t just one thing people will use to describe me But the most is me being a braider.

I am a person who walks in a full room alone, by myself and owns the floor. I embody confidence and grace,m sometimes without trying or even realizing. Then to top all of that off, still, I hold so many insecurities or things I wish were different about myself, and I have no shame in showing that side of me too. I am unapologetically the flawed beautiful person I am.

That is what sets me apart from everyone else.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
You know how they say there are two types of each zodiac. Well, I’m a Virgo. So I was either a quiet & to myself very school-oriented, perfectionist, and most self-critical person ever.

But on the other hand, I was the bright socialite with the smile and the dance moves to battle anyone. I loved dancing and could learn whole routines from videos and from friends to family They would get me to redo the parts they loved. I loved dancing and music.
