Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Lewis
Emily, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my fitness journey as a graduate student at Radford University. I hired a coach for the first time, it was scary as well. Three months later I fell in love with the journey / health and fitness. I felt so empowered to empower other women. I became an ambassador for the community I was apart of, the Positively Fit Community. I was heavily involved with sharing my experience, referring more people to the community and keeping women motivated. At the end of my grad year, I moved out of Radford and to Charleston , SC. I started working the day I moved as a server at a hotel. Six months later they promoted to sales manager of the hotel. The pandemic hit 8 short months later. The job was not fulfilling my passion, I was constantly day dreaming of helping more women through personal health and fitness journey. So … I did what most people wouldn’t. I quit my full time job at the firey start of the pandemic and went full-time coaching. I invested in a fitness internship. Throughout the years of learning more about health and fitness, I started to realize that health was way more than working out and eating well. It’s your hormone production, your period regularity, your gut microbiome. So, I did my own digging and became the advocate of my health all over all. My own gut health and hormone journey is what motivated me to get more certifications as a Holistic Gut Practitioner and MACRO specialist today. I now am helping women not only reach their fitness goals of getting strong, CONFIDENT and a beast in the gym but also healing their gut and revamping their gut and reframing their mindset that FOOD IS FUEL & HUNGER is a sign of GOOD HEALTH! My clients go from being afraid to eat over 1200-1500 calories to eating around 199-2200 calories daily and feeling so confident in their own body and skin and OWNING who they are as a woman.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My mom cried to me, begging me not to quit my job during the pandemic. I was headstrong though in what I wanted. I will say, it has not been easy all the time. There have been months I barely brought any new girls into my community. Instead of quitting, I put my head down and refocused. “If this isn’t working, we need to take another approach” … I learned how to pivot as needed and learned that RELATIONSHIP building is most important out of anything else.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a private contractor within the Positively Fit Community. We started off with just two coaches, myself and one other person. We now have 7 coaches total in this community and have been in business for six years. Our community is constantly growing and is becoming one of the most well known women’s health community in the U.S. We also have international clients as well including Australia and Canada.
I specialize in gut health, macronutrients, workout programming and mindset for women. I teach women how to learn to love food again, live their life, make fitness APART of their life and NOT their WHOLE life, love the body they are given as they alter it through lifestyle approaches and by simply fueling with food and exercising and nourishing their gut and hormones.
I provide CUSTOM workout / nutrition / lifestyle / mindset coaching with hands – on support, 24/6 text support, 1-1 coaching calls and mapped out advanced educational courses to set all clients up for LONG TERM SUCCESS. Most fitness coaches are trying to promote women getting “smaller” “leaner” “skinnier”. I am promoting that women take a stand, learn how to EAT again without restriction and fear, take care of their internal and external health while gaining CONFIDENCE , and their body is then the icing on the cake.
What’s next?
I plan to help the POSITIVELY FIT COMMUNITY open a gym in the future. I’d love to get my functional medicine certification to help more women with their internal health.
