Today we’d like to introduce you to Eugenio (Julio) Perez Jr (Hennessey).

Hi Eugenio (Julio), thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Julio Hennessey (born Eugenio Perez Jr) was born and raised in Lexington, NC. Julio relocated to Charlotte NC in 2012 and has been making waves in the comedy circuit. From stage plays, to comedy production and film, Julio has been identified as a rising star in all things comedy. He has traveled across the country spreading joy and laughter with his brand #catchthefunny! He’s making headway and impacting the entertainment scene heavily in Charlotte and throughout the US. He’s shared the stage with comedy heavyweights such as the legendary Nick Lewis, Comedians Shuler King, Desi Banks, Burpie, Tone X, Tony Woods, Howie Bell, Damon Williams and Comedian Kool Bubba Ice. His resume includes his appearance on the Liquor House Comedy Show broadcasted on Amazon Prime! Also has a special (CallTheLaw) on TubiTv. Julio has performed with 3M productions in the hit stage play “Tell Heaven I’m Coming” and recently released movie written and directed Ty Durden, “Careful What You Wish For”. Julio is a multifaceted Comedian and a top notch entertainer.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’ has definitely not been smooth but it has been rewarding. The time and dedication I’ve put into this journey is a testament to believing in me. The struggles can be internal and sometimes self doubt can creep in the mind; but, the belief that I have what it takes to make it keeps me going and never giving up. Balancing family, work and personal time is a constant struggle. I always find a way to give everyone and myself time.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an upcoming stand – up comedian that has traveled across this country and prides myself in bringing laughter and healing thru my comedy. I’m known for my story telling and life experience in a relatable way to touch diverse crowds. I’m very proud of my comedy special on TubiTv (Call TheLaw)
and headlining my hometown at the Civc Center. Having my whole hometown come out and support and Catch The Funny was an unimaginable feeling. To see so many old and new faces supporting my comedy career was amazing and overwhelming. I think I cried lil bit in the green room backstage lol. I’m definitely a leader and don’t believe in following. I’ve built my own highways to success and continue to branch off into more lanes of victory. Also, producing my own comedy show at Riddles Comedy Club in Chicago, in which some of the most recognizable faces in Comedy has graced that stage was a huge accomplishment.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
First, I would like to give a big shout out to my beautiful fiancé Jeana. She has been the biggest supporter, critiquing my material, gives me honest feedback and shows up when it counts. She will say don’t say that it ain’t funny lol. Hands down, she’s my biggest supporter and number one fan.

Cuzzin Clyde was the first person to introduce me the comedy scene and the rest is history. After that night, Tone Capone (comedian) open doors for me and I never looked back. I would be remised if I didn’t give props to Nuff Ced the Ultimate Host. NuffCed has introduced me to the clean comedy circuit and we’ve made waves from coast to coast. Last but not least I cannot forget Tye Banks. He’ produced my special and has given me countless opportunities to appear in movies and feature my talents on the big screen. Over the years, there have been so many others that have made an impact, entirely too many to mention.
