Today we’d like to introduce you to Evan Button.
Hi Evan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Lua Flora is the soundtrack of your favorite daydream. The Asheville, NC-based group’s sun-kissed melodies are rooted in the harmonies of Appalachia, rhythms of the West Indies, and lyricism of American folk.
Releasing a collection of singles, Lua Flora has collaborated with the Sons of Paradise, Richard Vagner, Victor Rice, and Karl Vincent Roth (of Satsang). With stellar reviews from publications such as Face the Current and Top Shelf Music, the outfit has established its unique yet home-like voice.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Starting during the pandemic, opportunities to perform and generate income for the band were limited. We used this as a time to record new music and fill out the band for our live performances.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Live music. We call our genre “beach-folk” which is a unique combination of indie-folk, reggae, and other Caribbean music. The songwriting is honest and smart.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Keep creating. Every song I write now is better than the last because I force myself out of my writing comfort zone and make myself do something new every time.
