Daily Inspiration: Meet Everette Funches

Today we’d like to introduce you to Everette Funches.

Everette Funches

Hi Everette, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My late father was an artist, so he was my first influence, but after discovering the collage work of Romare Bearden, I decided to practice the same medium; I also use acrylic and oil to create abstract paintings.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My work has been sitting dormant for quite a while, and that’s my own fault. In 2001 my very first art show was at Mary’s of Course Cafe when it was located on Brookstown Ave. I was naive and arrogant. I thought I could hang my work, and it would be a one-time deal, and everything would sell. It didn’t happen, and I quietly shelved my work. At the time, I was playing music (percussionist) regularly, and I’d done some theater acting, so my creative energy was still alive, and well, I just hadn’t figured out how to navigate the visual art community and make connections.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I started with Collage work.  Now I’ve expanded to acrylic abstract painting.

To be honest, I’m not sure what sets me apart from others.

Alright, so before we go, can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
If people want to work with me, collaborate,or support. I can be contacted at:
