Daily Inspiration: Meet Garrett Huffman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Garrett Huffman

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In 2020, during the quiet of the Covid lockdown, a new chapter in my life began. With time on my hands and an old guitar left behind by my brother, I decided to teach myself how to play the guitar. What started as a way to pass the time quickly blossomed into a deep passion for guitar, songwriting, and singing. Over the course of several months, I practiced relentlessly, reaching the point where I could perform full songs with confidence.

As my skills grew, I felt ready to take the next step and try performing live. That opportunity came in May 2021, when my best friend’s dad, the manager of Sports Page in Charlotte, NC, offered me my first gig. It was there, alongside my friend Micah Stiwalt, that I made my debut performance. That moment would be a turning point in my musical journey, and I’ll forever be thankful to him for giving me the chance to share my music with a live audience.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey hasn’t always been easy, but I’m thankful for every challenge along the way. Each obstacle has taught me valuable lessons about the music business and, more importantly, about myself. One of the toughest hurdles in the beginning was earning the trust of restaurants and venues to let me perform. My dad and I drove to over 100 establishments, and while many turned me down, a few gave me the chance. Those early opportunities were pivotal in shaping my path and have played a significant role in getting me to where I am today. I truly cherish every moment of this journey, as each challenge has helped me grow and evolve as an artist.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?

What sets you apart from others?

How do you think about luck?
Luck, both good and bad, has certainly played a role in my life and career. On the good side, I’ve had moments where opportunities have come my way in unexpected ways—whether it’s a key connection, a chance performance, or even just being in the right place at the right time. These moments often felt like luck, but I’ve learned to make the most of them by being prepared and seizing the moment.

On the flip side, bad luck has shown up in the form of setbacks—times when things didn’t go as planned or when I faced unexpected challenges. But I’ve come to realize that bad luck can also be a teacher. It’s forced me to adapt, stay resilient, and find new ways to grow. In the end, both good and bad luck have shaped who I am today and how I approach my career, teaching me that success often comes down to preparation, hard work, and how you respond to life’s twists and turns.
