Daily Inspiration: Meet Hannah Bieneman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Bieneman.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey into the nail industry started as a hobby in high school. At the time, I was interested in everything beauty-related, including nails, makeup, and hair, but nails quickly stood out to me. I realized that the art I abandoned when I was younger could be reignited into a form that holds a more promising future.

Last year I had a big goal of completing several milestones before attending East Carolina University. That spring, I completed my Associate of Arts, high school diploma, and manicurist certification and license. That time in my life taught me how much I was capable of accomplishing when I set my mind to something. I entered ECU knowing that I did not have to choose between trade school and a 4-year institution. I wanted to continue building my academic knowledge while also growing my beauty skills.

Today, I am a 19-year-old home-based nail technician in Greenville, NC, who serves ECU students. In my hometown, just north of Charlotte, NC, I have also gathered salon experience at a non-toxic salon which I plan to continue being involved in in the future. I specialize in gel extensions and nail art, and I love being able to combine creativity with helping my clients feel beautiful. What started as a simple hobby in high school has grown into something I am truly passionate about and, more recently, has led me to experiment with content creation on social media.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Though I’ve managed it well, it has not been smooth. One of my biggest challenges was managing all of my education at once. At times, it felt overwhelming trying to balance everything, but looking back, it taught me how to manage my time and stay focused on my goals.

Another challenge has been being a beginner nail technician. Even though I have built confidence in my skills, I still consider myself a beginner because I only professionally entered the industry one year ago. The nail industry is constantly changing, and there are so many techniques and art styles that I want to improve on.

I have also had to learn about the negative side of social media. Sharing content online can be exciting and has helped me connect with clients, but it can also open the door to hateful comments. I am still young and learning my trade. Over time, I have learned to focus more on those who support me and the progress I have made rather than giving attention to negativity.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in gel extensions and have recently entered the world of builder gel manicures meant for natural nail growth. I would also consider myself very skilled at nail art. I enjoy putting spins on traditional french tips, spending time on realistic paintings, and creating tiny pieces of art that my clients will love.
