Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Gower.
Hi Heather, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Short version …
I always wanted too but money held me back. In 2010 I got divorced. As a stay at home mom I needed to go to work. I became a special education teacher. The politics and the ability to really help my students to the best abilities they have left me frustrated. The system is broken. Then in 2019 my mom had a stroke. She became a living vegetable. She lived in California with my dad. I went out often to help and lost my job at wake county schools. ( longer story there but won’t go ). I decided to do shopping for people during covid. I made more doing that than teaching. Then my dad passed on Thanksgiving. Then my mom 4 months later. My kids were all grown. I loved doing my own schedule and I had the funds to do my dream job. I have a learning disability and the testing was hard. But covid standards made it easier. I took it 5 times but each time I learned more than the time before. The things I learned as a teacher and a degree in psychology has helped me in this business hugely. I’ve also learned I love the market aspects just as much. It’s fun to go visit new places around wake county and share them with people. So I get to still educate, learn more about our area and help people. What could be better. There are more parts to this story but it gives you an idea of how pain and struggles can bring you to your dream job. 😊
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I love sharing about my community. I love marketing from social media to postcards. What sets me apart is I’m with my clients from start to finish and involved the whole way. From helping find resources and set up
Appointments. I know my area, love learning more and sharing. I’ve also relocated 3 times across the country with three kids.. I’ve bought and sold multiple homes. So I’ve lived the job. I can create cards, social media ideas, newsletters and so much more. I love it. My husband says I should go more into marketing as I do pretty much everything in my own. My middle daughter helps with some production. .
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
To be honest with respect to others beliefs and feelings. To educate people about how real estate really works. To be the resource that home buyers and sellers want.
