Today we’d like to introduce you to Idah Alisha.
Hi Idah , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Kenya, and discovered my passion for the arts early, reciting poems at just eight years old. That spark led me to professional theater, where I honed my craft on stage before transitioning to television, both acting and writing for some of Kenya’s top TV shows.
My last project was a feature on ‘Click Click Bang’ the movie, on Netflix.
This was shot during a vacation visit to Kenya and perfect alignment, but such a beautiful feeling to have been back on set after a 7 year break.
Now based in the U.S., I continue to champion Kenyan art and culture, connecting communities through music, events, and creative collaborations. Whether hosting Kenyan artists in the States, Public speaking or being booked for events back home, I proudly carry and amplify Kenyan creativity across the globe.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, but my talent has opened doors for me that I doubt any level of education ever could. I’ve found myself in rooms with presidents, influential leaders, and powerful change makers, an honour I don’t take lightly.
While the journey hasn’t been easy, I’ve truly walked in favour, and I believe that’s because I approach everything with authenticity. I give my whole heart to every project I’m part of, and that sets me apart. I live by the mantra that life is an experience, one that can never be repeated and one that could end at any time! so I give it my all every single day.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Now, after living in North Carolina for 10 years, I’ve found a beautiful balance between my Kenyan roots and my global purpose. I host events, support artists, and keep my culture alive wherever I go.
Aside from my creative side, I also work in corporate America, I enjoy organising and planning and grateful that I get a chance to practice that on my day to day.
Having being raised by a beautiful strong single mom who taught me the power of resilience and grace, I naturally lean toward advocacy. I’m passionate about creating safe spaces for women to speak up, heal, and be heard.
I believe in the power of showing up fully in your most true self and all the good things will just gravitate towards you.
This is what has kept me happy and I believe sets me apart! I live a day a time and smile through it all.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
To collaborate, whether it’s a creative project, an event, or something that connects the community, you can always reach out to me through social media or email ([email protected]) And if It so happens that I don’t have the connection you’re looking for, I’ll do my best to help you find it. I truly believe there’s enough room for all of us to win and celebrate each other while at it!
