Today we’d like to introduce you to JEROME TAYLOR.
Hi JEROME, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Jerome N Taylor, AKA DJ ENERGIZER, I started as a DJ in September of 2012, I was a full time Operations Manager for Sherwin-Williams Floorcovering Division for 25 years but afterwards decided to go full-time as a Disc Jockey in 2017, I started djing at restaurants such as Applebees Restaurants doing Karaoke and Line Dancing. I was getting hired to do events at Clubs, Birthday parties and weddings. After being a Line Dancer prior to DJing I decided to add Line Dancing to my entertainment business which really took off because no other DJ was doing that. I also decided to do things other DJ’s were not doing and that was engaging with my audiences teaching them the latest line Dances and making sure their events was special for all my clients. After being noticed by corporate companies and entertainment venues and even Health and Nursing facilities my business really took off. I also was a DJ on Carnival Cruiselines as well as yacht cruises which was a pleasant experience for me. I also starting DJing for promoters for groups such as The Manhattans, The Blue Notes, Blue Magic, The Temptations which was revue groups thru-out the east coast that I was performing for. As of today, I DJ for 30 Primary Senior Care Centers, 6 Nurse and Rehab. Centers, 3 Clubs, 2 Restaurants and a Park downtown Greensboro, NC going on 8 years. Although I still have the joy of Djing, I decided to write a Biography of my life growing up as a young boy to the life I have now of a DJ called “REVITALIZED 2 ENERGIZE” which the number 2 stands for SINGING AND DANCING bringing joy to everyone I am in contact with which can be found on AMAZON. It is evident that music soothes the soul, as well as bring joy and happiness to ALL PEOPLE from ALL walks of life which I enjoy doing.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The only obstacle I faced was during the Covid time in 2018 which I was booked a year in advanced and because of the pandemic everything was wiped out. Because of that I went back to Sherwin-Williams Company as a delivery driver delivering paint to customers. I done that for 6 months and decided to retire from the company and live off the money I had invested in my 401k. After the pandemic, the entertainment industry started opening up again and the my phone started ringing again doing what I have always loved to do and that was entertaining people all over again. Although the year after Covid people had to wear mask, which made it a little harder but the job was still getting done. People was still dancing although somewhat at distance, people was still singing even though mic covers had to be used after every karaoke singer, but we all got through it, but if was a challenging and somewhat scary experience for me as an entertainer.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a full-time DJ/Entertainer, in order to be successful you have to be creative and stand apart from everyone else. During Covid time while people were at home, my marketing manager help me create online Line Dancing where I would teach people how to learn dances in the comfort of their own home which they would subscribe to my channel and have fun with their family in friends. It was was great for about 6 months but then other people took notice and started doing the same thing online and it was FREE, which people started cancelling my subscriptions online. Now everyone is going on Facebook and TikTok to learn all the line dances but its good to know I was one of the ones to get it started and it gave me a lot of exposure. As a successful DJ you have to know your audience to make sure everyone experience is one that will forever be remembered whether it is a wedding or a birthday party or even a senior event for our senior citizens and that is the joy I have traveling from New York to Florida spreading joy through my music that I play from Karaoke, Line Dancing Ballroom Dancing and ALL GENRES of CLEAN MUSIC. What sets me apart is I engage with everyone at every event which is hard for other DJ’s to do because it involves multi-tasking at every event to give everyone that feeling of being special.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
You just have to find that network that works for you, whether it is online or in person. I have an AWESOME support system that works for me with GREAT SUPPORTERS, FRIENDS AND FAMILY.
