Daily Inspiration: Meet Jett Moon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jett Moon.

Hi Jett, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am the Master Artist and Owner of Jett Studio, Cosmetic Tattoos. My PMU studio is a dream that came to fruition this year, in 2022. I took my destiny into my OWN hands, basically because I was tired of running other people’s successful businesses for them, and I was done with people telling me, “No,” and “You can’t.”

Don’t be disappointed if people refuse to help you. Remember the words of Einstein: “I am thankful to all those who said NO. Because of them, I did it myself.” Sincerely, I thank you! I put my intentions out into the Universe, I chose to vibrate to my own energy level, release positivity and accept that I am worthy of unconditional love, happiness, and prosperity. And the universe delivered that positivity back to me!

It took two very special people saying, “YES.” My mentor and PMU trainer, Naomi Saphire, Owner of Inkology, and my mentor, business partner, and friend, Miss Renee Daniels, owner of Salon Serenity Spa. Miss Renee is someone I can honestly say, has ALWAYS believed in me. It was with my mentors, I found my path my life’s journey had always had planned for me… BROW VIBES!!!! Brows have always been my favorite part of facial artistry! And with a good pair of brows, I opened the door to endless possibilities!

I started in the beauty industry 20 years ago, at age 18, with MAC Cosmetics in Chicago, IL. I was going to college for my Bachelor of Business in Advertising and Marketing Communications and had an amazing mentor at MAC who gave me a great job opportunity. I was hooked!! Even after I graduated, I stayed with MAC Cosmetics for 14 years! Ever since I was a little girl, I loved makeup!

I spent my allowance when I was 10 years old on a book, “Making Faces”, by Kevyn Aucoin, and so started my fascination with the transformation possibilities of makeup. Every page was more beautiful and addicting than the last! A specific piece in the book highlighted Tina Turner and her relationship with Kevyn. I thought to myself, “WOW! That’s going to be me someday. The magician with the brush!”

Now, keep in mind, I was 10 years old in 1996, there was no YOUTUBE, no Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, or Pinterest. Books, magazines, and going to the makeup counter at MAC, were the only ways I had to feed my creative hunger to learn the artistry of makeup. I dedicated all my time and energy practicing makeup and eventually turned it into a career with MAC and then as a celebrity makeup artist. I knew I had made it the night I took out my brush belt and in my makeup chair sat Tina Turner herself.

Another dream come true, are my two children! They are my moon and my stars, the reason I hustle and work so hard! I’m a single parent and needed a career that catered more to a work-life balance and paid the bills. I moved to North Carolina with the hopes of creating some stability and a home for my children. The first amazing woman I met here, was Miss Renee Daniels!

She gave me a job working for her at her beautiful Salon and Spa as a makeup artist and I was still able to still travel to my close celebrity clients. Then the world stopped and we all found ourselves in a global pandemic… my life as a prominent makeup artist came to an abrupt halt! Renee and I parted ways professionally, yet remained close to one another’s hearts.

I turned to my skills in social media. I started making TikTok and had 1M followers before my account hack and today I have 31.2K followers @jettmoonofficial. For a few years, I was a Content Creator, Social Media Manager, Public Relations Executive and ran the day-to-day operations of a salon and PMU studio over the course of a few years. I learned a lot, lost a lot, and found myself for the first time in my life, as a woman in my 30s.

I knew for a long time I wanted to get into PMU doing brows and run my own show my own way. I enrolled in Naomi Saphire’s Combo Brow’s training at Inkology and it changed my life! She taught me so much about being a Permanent Make Up Artist and gave me the confidence to reach for dreams and just GO FOR IT!! If you are considering a career in PMU, her course and kit are hands down THE BEST! Naomi posted a photo of me in training class and guess who saw it. Miss Renee.

Renee called me the night I graduated and made me a business offer to partner with her. It’s interesting how life comes full circle, isn’t it?! That’s how Jett Studio, Cosmetic Tattoos went from a dream to reality… I did it my way.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I hit every bump in the road one could possibly hit! Lol, there were days I had $1.40 in my bank account.

Days where I thought the struggle would never end. I would remind myself, what you truly seek, is seeking you! The path to greatness isn’t always straight, perfect, or even in the right direction. But non the less, it is our path to walk.

I’m not in this business to break your bank. I’m in this business to make you feel good about yourself! We are all worthy of loving ourselves unconditionally, I want to help you stand in front of the mirror and give yourself a positive, “Damnnnnnnn!”

I have been many women in my life. The lover and the fighter. But the woman I value most will always be the survivor! We’re all surviving something. I just want to help people love themselves more. That’s all.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I consider myself a visionary. I don’t just see a tree, I see the whole forest.
