Johnny Lance

Hi Johnny, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been an artist as long as I can remember… I started getting tattooed in the Navy… all my friends said I should start tattooing… once I got out of the Navy, I came home a done odd jobs until I got a job in a tattoo studio in Illinois… worked there for about a year and came back home to open my own studio named Forbidden Color Tattoos… then met a beautiful lady named Cassidy Morgan… we got married had 4 beautiful kids 1 boy an 3 girls… We moved to Sylva, NC… where we currently have Forbidden Color tattoos …

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely had its ups and downs … Covid shut us down, so we closed the shop moved to Sylva… Reopened it stayed there for 2 years and then the state took our building for a road expansion… So, we moved to our current location…

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an artist… but specifically, a Tattoo Artist… I’m known for my black and grey tattoos /realism… portraits of people and animals…

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
