Daily Inspiration: Meet Ken Coronet

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ken Coronet.

Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
I started my career path in health care when I was about 25 in Florida. I had begun work in Senior Living Communities, assisting seniors in finding the right care. I worked in Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Nursing Home/Rehab, Home Health, Hospice Care, and Transportation for seniors, all in the Marketing/Sales field. In contrast, I moved back home to Iowa when my mother was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. In Iowa, I continued to work in Health Care and obtained my 1st Real Estate license. I was doing both with real estate part-time and utilizing it for my fun money. I met my husband in Iowa, and we had our daughter in Iowa too. We then moved to NC as a ( Healthcare Company) helped move us down. The pandemic hit some years later, and I was let go from my Health care sales role. I had to ( Choose to) return to a toxic corp healthcare world or go full-time real estate. I chose real estate, took a leap of faith, and never looked back.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Making this transition, I would be lying if I said it was smooth. I chose during a time I never thought would be what it was. I had many challenges, from past CPTSD to many self-doubts about what I was doing and how I would obtain clients. The struggles were the financial start-up to Real Estate, how to obtain clients in a pandemic since realtors were not essential workers in the start of the pandemic. Even how to overcome fears of being on your own with work, Fears of the unknown. The struggles for agents are all real.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might need to become more familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Ah my work! I hold many hats. I am a full-time realtor specializing in focusing on clients who want to go through a journey with me. I choose not to silo my profession and have learned through health care to adapt to all and form their journey. I am gay, and as I love helping my community, it is not my focus to be the gay realtor. I sit on the Diversity and Inclusion Alliance as the LGBTQ+ Chair for Canopy Realtor Association. I was also chosen to be part of the Canopy Leadership Academy this year. I have even branched out to my lender partner, and we make Videos to help the community understand both sides of the transaction a bit more. I talk real estate, and he talks financials. It is called Real-T and you can find the videos on all my social media platforms.

I do have a networking event I do every month called Queens of the Lake, and I now have a Facebook group called Social Media Accountability for Professionals. I also have my daughter in all of my marketing and showcase my family as we are a same-sex couple with a kid. This is important to showcase in my work as it helps people understand I can wear many hats, but is also truly inclusive for all. The best way to define my work is to be here for all people and all financial means. I enjoy working with all my clients and their referrals. Yes, there are hard times with clients, it is not always rainbows and unicorns, however, at the end of the day they find their home with my guidance. I am known as the one who helps and guides. I am proud of my achievements with my brokerage, clients, and community. I can now focus on how I can help people on my terms. All of this sets me apart from many in the industry. It’s me being me and knowing I can help no matter what, but also knowing I am not alone and have great friends in the business now. We are not divided and should not be. We should be here to help the community understand why we are essential to the transaction, and my clients always know what I do for them.

What do you think about luck?
Luck? I am not sure if luck has played any in my role. My past has built me, and my past struggles from CPTSD built me to be who I am. I made my journey to overcome a lot. I do not have luck; I have experiences that are molded to look like luck from the outside. I do what I do because I learn and maintain current and past knowledge of my business and community.
