Daily Inspiration: Meet Lynn Harvey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynn Harvey.

Hi Lynn, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Love and Laundry was born/birthed out of obedience, not a plan.
One Saturday morning in November 2022, while my husband was on a business trip, I found myself lying in bed bored and casually thinking about going shopping at places like Ross, Burlington, or JCPenney. But instead, I saw a vision of Tide laundry detergent. I got up, went to the bank, and withdrew ten rolls of quarters. Then I headed to Walmart, where I purchased fifteen (15) of Tide and Gain laundry detergent, and about fifteen bottles of fabric softener. With no plan in place, I prayed and asked God, “Now what do I do?”
I found myself standing outside of a laundromat, offering people detergent, fabric softener, and a roll of quarters. In less than two hours, all of the laundry products were gone, and I was left with four rolls of quarters.

Later in the evening, my daughter called and I shared what happened, she said, “Mom, that’s a great way to help people.”
That night, the name came in a vision: “Love and Laundry”: “Sharing Love and Changing Hearts One Load at a Time”. Why? Because this is about Love.
Today, we are still doing just that.
We provide laundry supplies, hygiene items, and paper products to those in need—no questions asked, just love given.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We have faced our share of challenges, yet we have continued to persevere. The reality is that products cost money, and ministry requires resources. Since 2022, Love and Laundry have been sustained almost entirely by our family—98% supported by my son, daughter, husband, and me. This is not a complaint, but an honest statement of fact. To continue serving and growing our impact, we remain committed to wise stewardship and meaningful community collaboration.
Yet through every challenge, prayer and faith have carried us just as much as perseverance. We have prayed over every step, every decision, and every person we serve, trusting God to supply what we could not see and to make a way even when resources appeared limited. This ministry stands because of faith in action and prayer in motion. “No questions asked” has never been difficult for us, because we understand that need is not always visible to the eye. We have lived that reality. We know that pride, pain, and survival often conceal true need. Our heart is not to investigate, but to respond. Not to judge, but to love. Not to delay, but to serve.
We respond because compassion does not require proof. We respond because faith moves before full understanding. We respond because prayer has trained us to see beyond what is visible. This ministry is built on love, prayer, and faith, not abundance. On obedience, not convenience. On trust in God, not certainty in resources. And even when the road is not smooth, we continue—because the call is clear, and the mission is worth every sacrifice.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Professionally, my life has been rooted in service, advocacy, and leadership. I currently serve as a ReBuild NC disaster recovery case manager, walking alongside individuals and families during some of the most difficult seasons of their lives, helping them navigate resources, regain stability, and rebuild after crisis. This work strengthened my ability to respond with compassion while also bringing structure, accountability, and guidance to those who feel overwhelmed or forgotten.

Previously, I worked as an Income Maintenance Case Manager with Onslow County Department of Social Services (DSS). In that role, I assisted individuals and families with accessing essential benefits such as food and medical support. It gave me firsthand experience of how easily people can fall through the cracks and how dignity, patience, and understanding are just as important as policies and procedures.
These professional roles deeply shaped the foundation of Love and Laundry. The “no questions asked” approach was born from seeing how often real needs are hidden behind paperwork, fear, pride, or misunderstanding. I learned that from the outside, everything may appear fine, while on the inside, people are struggling to survive.
Today, I blend my professional experience in case management with my calling in ministry. As the founder of Love and Laundry, I lead with faith, prayer, and compassion, providing laundry and hygiene essentials to those in need while restoring dignity and hope. I am also called to minister healing, unity, and obedience to God’s Word.
Whether in government service, or nonprofit leadership, my professional life reflects one mission: to serve people with integrity, meet needs with compassion, and respond to God’s call by being present where help and love are needed most.

What I believe sets me apart is my refusal to quit, even when the road is hard. My youngest son, Natrawn, who supports my vision both financially and through constant prayer and encouragement, once said, “Give and up are not together in my mom’s vocabulary.” That statement describes not only what he sees in me, but how I live. I don’t give up. I push through on my knees, even with tears. Prayer is my strength, faith is my foundation, and obedience is my response. When resources are low and challenges are high, I lean harder into God. I may pause, I may cry, but I will not stop. What sets me apart is that I don’t move by comfort or convenience, I move by calling.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Love and Laundry is personal, not theoretical. I don’t serve from a distance; I serve from experience. I understand need because I lived it myself.
My family and I are invested emotionally, spiritually, and financially.

Prayer is my strength, faith is my foundation, and obedience is my response. I believe my professional role and spiritual obedience come together well. I understand system, policies, and resources, but I also understand discernment, compassion, and trusting God when the numbers don’t add up.

I am not motivated by recognition or visibility, but by dignity and purpose. I serve not because it is easy or convenient, but because it is necessary. I serve because love requires action, because God trusted me with this assignment, and I honor Him by showing up even when it costs me something.
Love and Laundry is “Sharing Love and Changing Hearts One Load at a Time.
We are Community First, Compassion always.
