Daily Inspiration: Meet Makaela Holmes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Makaela Holmes.

Hi Makaela, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself. 
My name is Makaela, but you can call me Kae. I’m 31, happily married for over 9 years, and a mommy to a 10-year-old girl (Kalayah) and an 8-year-old boy (Michael Jr.). My journey started because I wanted something more exciting than the standard lifestyle. I craved a life with a bit more creativity, not just the same old routine. I’ve been into tech stuff since I was in 6th grade, and as time went on, I got really interested in technology and the social world around me. Life’s an adventure, and I’m here to explore the cool and always changing world of technology and how it connects with our everyday lives! In 2018, I took the bold step to leave traditional employment and founded my business, iMommyGang. This venture was my foundation for the entire creative ecosystem. iMommyGang encompasses a wide range of creative niches, including video creation, blogging, virtual assisting, course creation, event planning, photography, videography, business branding services, social media consulting, and management, as well as affiliate and influencer opportunities. My educational journey took me from pursuing a nursing degree to exploring various majors during my time at NCAT, where I eventually graduated with honors in JOMC (Electronic Media) in 2014. I then gained experience working at a news station in Greensboro, but it became clear that the traditional career path wasn’t my calling. So, in June 2018, I established iMommyGang to merge all my skills and expertise into a creative powerhouse. I also returned to school to pursue a Master’s Degree in Adult Education. By May 2020, I graduated with honors again, reinforcing my dedication to bringing iMommyGang to life. I’m now completely content with my decision and am living my dream, engaging in a variety of creative endeavors. Since not knowing my true purpose, I’ve evolved into someone who can confidently say they’re doing exactly what they were meant to do. I’ve found acceptance and freedom in pursuing my passions. I have a strong vision and unwavering faith that my businesses will not only succeed but also provide financial security for my family. My journey has led me to a place where I’m doing what I love, and I’m determined to excel in every facet of it. Success, in all its forms, is on the horizon, and I couldn’t be more thrilled about the path I’m on.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey hasn’t exactly been smooth. One of the biggest challenges has been the sporadic and unexpected nature of my finances. There were weeks when I made a satisfying $1000, and then there were those other weeks where I was scraping by with just $100. The financial uncertainty was a constant struggle. But amidst all of that, I never lost sight of my dreams. I fell in love with my craft, and that love became my driving force. I trusted that it would ultimately lead me to where I wanted to be. You know, they say you have to go through struggles to truly appreciate success. Believing in myself and my craft has been my anchor throughout this journey. It’s crystal clear that the passion and dedication I bring to my work will carry me to the success I’ve always envisioned. I’m confident that one day, my dreams will overflow and fill my cup to the brim.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I wear many hats in the world of creativity and entrepreneurship. My mission is all about using creativity to help entrepreneurs, business professionals, and bloggers elevate their brands. What sets me apart is the multifaceted nature of my work. Under the iMommyGang umbrella, I’ve ventured into various creative niches, from video creation and blogging to virtual assistance, course creation, event planning, photography, videography, business branding services, and social media consulting and management. Additionally, I offer affiliate and influencer opportunities. But that’s not all—my commitment to creativity extends to my family life. We run a family vlog called “No Place Like Holmes,” which captures our adventures, games, and the genuine love and fun we share as a young family. My son’s gaming channel, “Play Like Mike,” and my daughter’s cooking channel, “Kalayah’s Kitchen,” are part of this creative tapestry. I take pride in my hustle because it’s what will ultimately lead me to financial security. I believe that being known for coming up with creative ideas and bringing life to any gathering or project is a testament to my passion. What truly sets me apart is my unwavering dedication to success. I see life from a unique perspective, where inspiration never leaves my mind. The constant drive to achieve more and to be great is a defining feature of my journey. I’m always looking for signs that I’m on the right path, and my mind is continually filled with the possibilities of what more I can achieve. That’s what fuels me on this creative and entrepreneurial journey.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Well, it’s a beautiful blend of factors that light up my life. First and foremost, my faith in God brings me immeasurable happiness and a sense of purpose. My family, my rock, is my source of boundless joy. The laughter, love, and shared moments with them fill my heart with happiness that words can’t capture. My friends, those special souls who walk this journey with me, bring happiness through their presence and the shared adventures we embark on. But you know what truly makes me smile? It’s the ability to live life on my own terms, to follow my passions and dreams, and to chart my course in this world. Vacationing, exploring new places, and experiencing different cultures—that’s pure bliss. A sense of adventure and discovery is my recipe for happiness. And yes, let’s not forget the financial freedom that money provides. It opens doors to opportunities, secures my family’s future, and grants me the ability to pursue my dreams without constraints. In essence, happiness for me is a symphony of faith, family, friends, freedom, exploration, and financial security. It’s the journey I’m on, and every day, I’m grateful for the beautiful notes of happiness that fill my life.
