Daily Inspiration: Meet Matt Kilgore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Kilgore.

Hi Matt, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My father is a plumber.
I couldn’t stand the idea of college.
Paying an exorbitant amount of money to sit down and get talked at in exchange for a sheet of paper was never really appealing to me. But I participated for a while before being employed by the same Cary based company my dad worked at for decades.

Once I gained enough knowledge and experience to realize the companies ineptitude and overly money hungry approach to the business, I left for a different plumbing company also based in Cary, which was far greater in every sense except for their foothold in their target area.

I stayed there for a little over 1 year before being given the opportunity to be a crucial part of Arcane Plumbing Solutions. A company I have been helping build and maintain for almost two years now!

A company that strives to provide unmatched customer service with a transparent and straight forward approach to pricing.

Outside of that the story is I get to play with wet legos every day! Just put the pieces together and make sure they don’t leak!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Every road has a few divots, cracks and crevasses. But we’ve managed to stay between the lines and avoid any major pot holes!

No wrecks or collisions yet. However they are always a possibility and we must remain alert to avoid them.

I’d say we’re on a gravel road rather than one that’s paved.

That’s the best analogy.

The path is there but the journey is a bit bumpy no matter how well you’ve prepared.

I was the head of the repipe team at each of my previous employers for a total of just over 4 years.

Though we are experts in standard tank type, gas and electric water heaters. We are also a Rinnai certified company. Showcasing our fluency in tankless installation and maintenance.

We look at each task to devise a solution for the customers needs based on our inquiry for the desired end result they hope to achieve! Where if someone else is better suited for the job they request, we will steer them in the right direction to help ensure they receive the best outcome at the most reasonable price available at the time.

Additionally, we will take the time on the phone or by email/text to answer inquiries that other plumbing companies refuse to spend the time answering. Rather they insist on showing up in person to collect a fee and perhaps offer no solution.

It’s important to maintain a consistent level of trust and understanding with our customers. To make it clear to them that we’re not here to make a quick buck. But to educate and inform so they may comfortably make their own decisions and stand by them with the knowledge we’ve provided.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I grew up on a farm at the edge of apex and holly springs. The only child of two loving and generous parents. Attempting to work as hard and honestly as they have in order to provide an exceptional quality of life.
