Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Sferra.
Hi Matt, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
From a small town in ohio. Always searching for the limelight and desiring to be the life of any given party. The youngest of 5 kids. Attended Ohio University and graduated with a degree in marketing. Moved to Raleigh to pursue my dreams of becoming a CMO for a company or working for a prestigious college in the area while also golfing year round. After being laid off from my previous job I was hired at Cheetah as the director of marketing relations and have helped grow the club into the premier spot in raleigh nightlife.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a necessarily smooth road, with adult nightlife being the culture it is, it is hard to advertise and market. We have lost instagram accounts, dealt with problems inside and outside the club. It was difficult learning how to navigate this role but with the help of my department head Lane I have been able to find my stride.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My specialty is event marketing. I am a creative visual with a passion for the extravagant. Whether it is events I put on myself or attend I am always thinking of the execution of them. What is done well, what can be done better. How it works and how it can benefit stakeholders. What sets me apart from others is my vision. I can see things and visualize new fun ideas most people would never consider. I like for every experience to be individual and incredible. Something I like to hang my hat on is the Galaxycon Party we host at the Raleigh club every year in the summer. Worth checking out this year July 24th and 25th!
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I have never been someone who looks to find a mentor. I can find beneficial advice in everyone I talk to. In regards to networking, just being yourself and putting yourself in uncomfortable situations can do wonders. Leveraging any type of knowledge to your advantage and knowing how to interpret it creates opportunities to seize.
