Daily Inspiration: Meet Michael Byrd

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Byrd.

Hi Michael, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
US army veteran with currently 20+ years of government service. I started a social group on Facebook in 2018 using just friends from my friend list. The group now has expanded to 26 groups and over 10,000 members. I also have a YouTube channel where I produce 3 podcasts two of which I host.

My groups give North Carolina singles an outlet to meet new friends unlike any dating app out there. I host speed dating events, adult proms, and many other events catered to the singles of NC. I also founded a music festival in 2020 called Rock Rhe Pig to raise money for the Paws for Life foundation.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course not. No road is ever smooth, there’s always a bump here and there. The pandemic was a major bump.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My main job is completely the opposite of my passion. My passion is entertaining people and getting people to interact with one another.

I like pushing myself by hosting events and learning new ways to get people off their couches and out and about. I love interviewing people and video production.

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
From 2014 to 2018, I was a professional cornhole player.
