Today we’d like to introduce you to Michele Workman.
Hi Michele, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My husband and I and our youngest son moved from Illinois to Chapel Hill, NC in 2017. Previously, I had worked at a local hospital where I was employed as a medical social worker for 10 years. When we moved to Chapel Hill my job search was going nowhere. I was applying for many different positions but, for one reason or another, nothing was materializing!
While still job hunting, I did accept a position as a first grade teacher’s aid at a local elementary school. I learned very quickly that was not the occupation for me!
My husband encouraged me to think about what I would really like to do. I decided I would like to enter the wedding industry as a professional wedding planner. I found an online course and took the next 3-4 months completing that. I knew I was not interested in working for a wedding planning company and so decided to start my own business. That is how I Do Weddings By Michele came to be!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been relatively smooth although the post COVID rush has ended and with the present economy and worldwide uncertainty the wedding industry does seem to have slowed down a bit.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I Do Weddings by Michele provides wedding planning services for the insanely busy, budget conscious, fun loving couple in the Triangle area. We offer full service planning, partial planning and day of coordination services.
I am most proud of 81/ 5 Star reviews on Google. My clients say I am responsive, detail oriented and easy to work with. I am also very proud of the wonderful relationships I have been blessed to develop with many of my clients. I am truly there to serve them on their wedding day and I think they understand that. I am proud that I get to do what I truly love and make money doing it!
How do you define success?
Success is getting my couples down the aisle without any glitches! Seriously, that is the most stressful part of the wedding day for me and I have been successful if that all goes well and the ceremony ends with a married couple!
Honestly though, success for me is doing what I absolutely love and giving my best to do it well for the couples I serve!
