Daily Inspiration: Meet Pam & Lee Graham

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pam & Lee Graham

Hi Pam & Lee, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
We’re a blended a family. We decided to not have children together, but we wanted to have something that was ours… So March 2023 we started our little flock with 13 chickens. We wanted them as pets and to provide eggs for our family. Then we add some ducks. That lead to the question about how do we use our little bit of land to provide amazing, healthy food for our family. We knew we wanted to learn how to do raised bed gardens. This led to us getting honey bees to help with pollinating and eventually honey. Along that time a guy was looking to re-home his New Zealand rabbits so we add them to our collection. The current project is to add dairy so we’ve recently added Nigerian Dwarf Goats because who doesn’t love baby goats and we’ll use the milk to drink, make cheeses and soaps.

Our mission is to learn ourselves and teach our kids what is healthy food and how to raise it.

If you love cute, cuddly goats several times a week we live stream our goats on our YouTube channel: https://youtube.com/@clucknduckfarm

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Time is one of the biggest challenges as we both work full time jobs and have a family of 7 to provide. But everyone chips and helps!

Cost to build shelters and fences is always an expense. We are always repurposing materials, and have had many kind people donate fencing, posts, pallets and other materials that have made all of this possible.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
We love that the food we raise is organic and completely free of pesticides and chemicals. Nothing ever goes to waste as we make our own compost.

As we raise these animals they really become a special part of our family. So it’s always hard when we lose one of them.
